We (my partner and I) have two episodes of Stranger Things left (The Bridge and the finale) and... I don't understand these complaints. The series has been consistently delivered from the beginning, with the exception of Season 2... I'm willing to understand them here; they fell victim to their own success, like Hazbin Hotel, which also derailed a bit... also in Season 2. Every season generally has the same flaws – they're a bit wordy, they have a bit too much expository dialogue (which isn't always rightly criticized), they rely on clichés, and the story itself is a bit slapped together with saliva. The last point isn't so bothersome because the Duffer Brothers focused on the characters, and that's evident from the beginning of the series.
Sure, in hindsight, after discussing this season, or after listening to a few reviews, we'll probably notice a few flaws, but the series is fundamentally well-written. In a few moments the dialogues could have been improved, and some scenes could have been better presented (the scene with Holly's mother - it would have been much better if not everything was shown), but it is definitely not enough to compare the ST finale to the Game of Thrones finale. The flaws in that show were glaring from the very first episode, and even the previous season. Some might say the same was true of the Netflix show, and I can agree with that to some extent. However, the comparison to Game of Thrones is a joke.
Things get more interesting with Max and Will... I'll start with the more notorious one. I haven't seen the scene yet, but I've seen the memes and people's impressions. I THINK the main problem with this scene is (supposedly) its length and the fact that it was addressed so late. Starting from the end, many storylines in this show were postponed. This is done for various reasons – laziness, an unwillingness to change the characters' status quo (because it requires additional work), etc. And it bit them in the ass this season. I guessed Will was gay because I have gay and bisexual friends, and I see how they act (and in the case of some of them, I saw how they acted when they were younger). Some fans knew it, some probably guessed it, but quite a few didn't. If they had shortened this scene (if it actually lasts as long as they say—apparently, it kills pacing) and given more hints in earlier seasons, it would have been fine. That aside, the scene itself isn't a complete flop, as some people say. Back then, love for one's gender was highly stigmatized. Not only because of resentment or a desire to vent frustration, but also ignorance. After all, we didn't have the internet back then, and even though we didn't have it, it really gave us a lot.
As for Max... She behaved really badly, but I can totally understand it. She wasn't raised in a normal home, she's been locked up for two years, and I can believe she's become a toxic, manipulative person. It's not the level of selfishness of Songbird from Cyberpunk 2077, but Max is on the right track. If Max truly changed her character, kudos to the creators for their guts.
Zostały nam (mi i mojej partnerce) 2 odcinki Stranger Things (The Bridge i finałowy) i... nie rozumiem tych narzekań. Serial jest konsekwentnie prowadzony od początku z wyjątkiem S2... Tu jestem gotów ich zrozumieć, padli ofiarą własnego sukcesu, jak Hazbin Hotel, który też się lekko wykoleił... też w 2 sezonie XD. Każdy sezon ma generalnie te same wady - są trochę przegadane, mają odrobinę za dużo dialogów ekspozycyjnych (które nie zawsze są słusznie krytykowane), opierają się na kliszach, a sama historia jest troszeczkę klejona za pomocą śliny. Ostatni punkt aż tak bardzo nie przeszkadza, bo bracia Duffer postawili na postacie i to widać od początku serialu.
Jasne, z perspektywy czasu, po przedyskutowaniu tego sezonu, czy po wysłuchaniu kilku recenzji zapewne zwrócimy uwagę na kilka błędów, ale serial zasadniczo jest poprawnie napisany. W paru momentach faktycznie można było poprawić dialogi, a niektóre sceny lepiej przedstawić (scena z mamą Holly - byłaby dużo lepsza, gdyby nie pokazywano wszystkiego), ale to zdecydowanie za mało by porównywać finał ST do finału Gry o Tron. Błędy tamtego serialu rzucały się w oczy od pierwszego odcinka, a nawet wcześniejszego sezonu. Ktoś może powiedzieć, że tak samo było w dziele Netflixa i z tym trochę się mogę zgodzić. Niemniej porównanie do Gry o Tron to nieśmieszny żart.
Ciekawiej się robi przy Max i Will... Zacznę od tej głośniejszej sprawy. Jeszcze nie widziałem tej sceny, ale zdążyłem zobaczyć memy i wrażenia ludzi. WYDAJE MI SIĘ że głównym problemem tej sceny jest (podobno) jej długość oraz fakt, że tak późno się tym zajęto. Zaczynając od końca - wiele wątków w tym serialu przenoszono "na potem". Robi się to z różnych powodów - lenistwa, niechęci do zmiany statusu quo postaci (bo to wymaga dodatkowej pracy) itd. No i ugryzło ich to w tyłek przy tym sezonie. Ja domyśliłem się, że Will jest gejem, bo mam kumpli gejów, biseksualnych i widzę, jak się zachowują (a w przypadku niektórych z nich, widziałem jak się zachowywali, gdy byli młodsi). Część fanów to wiedziała, część pewnie się domyślała, ale dość wielu o tym nie wiedziało. Gdyby skrócili tę scenę (jeśli faktycznie trwa tyle czasu, ile mówią - podobno zabija pacing) i dali więcej wskazówek we wcześniejszych sezonach, byłoby ok. Pomijając to, sama scena nie jest wyssana z tyłka, jak mówią niektórzy. W tamtych czasach, miłość do swojej płci była bardzo piętnowana. Nie tylko z powodu niechęci do nich, chęci do wyładowania swoich frustracji, ale też niewiedzy. Wszakże nie mieliśmy wtedy internetu, a było nie było, ten dał nam naprawdę dużo.
Jeśli chodzi o Max.... Zachowała się naprawdę źle, ale jak najbardziej mogę to zrozumieć. Nie wychowywała się w normalnym domu, siedzi zamknięta od 2 lat i mogę w to uwierzyć, że stała się toksyczną, manipulacyjną osobą. Nie jest to poziom egoizmu Songbird z gry Cyberpunk2077, ale Max jest na dobrej drodze. Jeśli Max faktycznie zmieniła swój charakter, szacun dla twórców za wielkie jaja.
