Clivia in the sewing room on New Year’s Eve
The Tuesday before New Year’s Eve I didn’t get much done as it was hard to get around with the swollen knee and coughing. My helper friend was here and he did errands and some chores. We’d had rain the day before and the temps dropped creating black ice ¼” thick. I did have to go out and sweep and sand for that.
I got the laundry started too but didn’t finish it.

On Wednesday morning, I finished the laundry and got a load of dishes in the dishwasher. No exercise class, the knee and cough were too much. I had to sweep snow again as we’d had sufficient snowfall to cover the ice. I sanded everything again also.
The agency called and said they had a person who would come on New Year’s Day for the 5 hours. So I said ok, as I hoped to start a project.
I started the post summing up the year, going through the thousands of photos and making notes.

She arrived shortly after 10AM on New Year’s Day. The project was spring cleaning the clean room. This room had not been done since it was built in 2021. The black replacement cookstove had been in there instead of the island that belonged there.
My son would put food on it when getting stuff in and out of the fridge and it had gotten quite bad. So we tackled that first and got it cleaned up nicely.
But before we started I gave her a tour of the house in hopes she might remember where rooms were when it came to putting stuff away. A lot of stuff had landed in the clean room for one reason or another over the years.
Once the stove was done we started on the 4 overhead cabinets, taking the contents out and cleaning it, dusting and polishing the cabinets before putting stuff back.
That’s as far as we got as she had to go pick up a shopping order before she left. She’s interested in taking on some of the Thursdays each month so we will see how that works out.

When I went to put the window candles on, the moon was rising in the northeast over the trees. When I went to bed the shadows from the moonlight were really crisp and bright. But obviously not bright enough for my camera.
On Friday my helper friend was here again early and he did some chores, errands, and then we spent an hour cleaning out the shelving under the sink in the clean room. He also vacuumed the walls and ceiling. So it’s just the wall on the right side left to do, and cleaning the fridge.
I worked some more on the photos for the post.

Light snow on Sunday morning
On Saturday I finally finished the editing of photos but didn’t have the gumption to start writing.

More of the light snow on Sunday morning
Sunday morning I sat down and finally got the post up. Then I went through and edited the photos I had taken throughout the week. And finally, in late afternoon, I’ve gotten caught up.
It’s to be cold, 13F, on Sunday night and more snow. I’ll probably have to sweep and sand in the morning. I don’t know yet if I am going to exercise class. It will depend on how my knee and cough are in the morning. There’s also a hot cider event at lunch time and I planned to go to that, staying after exercise class. If I don’t go to class, I’ll have to see if the van can pick me up.
I have laundry to do and a kitchen to clean up, so we will see.
