New poinsettia bought on the shopping trip Tuesday
On Wednesday morning I was up at 4:45AM and got the stoves set. I got a post written for the first time in 3 days and then got laundry started. I got a shower and spent the last few minutes before my neighbor picked me up for exercise class doing online shopping for winter theme t shirts.

Exercise class went well but I was pretty tired when we got back. Sitting on my front porch was the roaster! So I got it washed up and transferred the crockpot and the stockpot into it. It’s much bigger than the old one so doing the larger carcass blocks won’t be such a problem.
I couldn’t put it on the porch because the one out there would finish and I’d open the porch windows to cool it down at 12:30PM. I had the new one installed on the island counter where I have an outlet because the steam would ruin the wood overhead cabinets on the countertop. It would run until 6:30PM when my brother would help me get it to the porch.

I changed the laundry over and decided to read the new Harry Potter book my sister had sent me. I started in my chair but moved to the couch. The next thing I knew my son woke me up at 3PM bringing in wood for the masonry heater.

The squirrels haven’t gotten on the feeders yet, but they make sure the ground feeding birds don’t get anything by chasing them off.

When I edited the bird photos (taken with the old Kodak) I saw the weird pattern on the blue jay’s wings. It looks like a reflection from a window, but there are none like that there. When I blew it up, it was obviously the feather pattern.
I was sitting in my chair reading when my brother called. He wanted me to bring the car to the mechanic’s as he was leaving his for work to be done. We agreed I’d leave in 15 minutes. So I’m reading and the phone rings. It’s my older brother calling to say I will finally get my tractor back on Friday, for a good amount more of $$ than I’d hoped. Sigh… but at least it’s fixed and coming back…
But I realized I was supposed to have left 10 minutes before to go get my youngest brother! The book had drawn me in for much longer than I realized. So I called him and said I was on my way.

Later at supper time he moved the roaster to the porch to cool down. I’m going to have to be aware it will take a lot longer to cool than the smaller one, once fully loaded.
After finishing the Harry Potter book, I got the candles off, shades pulled, stoves set and I was in bed just after 8:30PM.
Thursday I have to clean the kitchen and the crockpot and stockpot. They are a cooked on mess I had left soaking. I have to finish the laundry and then get ready to package up the chicken bone stock for the freezer. My helper friend will be here at 11:30AM.
Once that’s done, I’ll have my helper friend make a double batch of butternut soup to take to the Solstice party Saturday night.
