Various parts of the world consist of different countries, each with its own unique characteristics, including ethnicity. Ethnicity itself has differences between one another, caused by population movements that occurred several hundred years ago, resulting in unique characteristics that define an ethnicity.
Ethnic groups around the world have their own distinct characteristics, which are usually visible through their facial features such as eyes, nose, face shape, and hair, making them distinguishable from one another. These unique features make it easy to differentiate between ethnic groups.
My country also has various ethnic groups, including the Dayak. The Dayak ethnicity has been present for hundreds of years and is native to Borneo. Based on what I have read, the origin of the Dayak ethnicity comes from the migration of people from Southern China hundreds of years ago.
Therefore, the Dayak people have traits such as narrow eyes and fair skin due to their ancestry. The Dayak ethnic group is further divided into various subgroups, spread across Borneo, from Malaysia to Kalimantan.
I had the opportunity to capture the beauty of one of the women who is still of Dayak descent. The photoshoot took place in one of the tributaries of the largest river in Kalimantan, the Kapuas River, thanks to the collaboration of the largest photography community in Palangkaraya.
The photoshoot also invited one of the Sony Alpha Gurus as a mentor for the Human Interest photography genre. Although it was a Human Interest photography, the mentor had prepared everything, resulting in well-conceptualized photos.
