What no one on the crew of the stricken ship imagined was what happened during the night of that day when the captain disappeared from the ship.
He was in the bow, smoking a cigarette. There was nothing more he could do because his ship had suffered a major breakdown and they needed daylight to repair it. In a few minutes, he began to hear what sounded like a whisper. Each time the whisper was closer and closer to the ship. It was more like the melancholy sound of a song.
Who was singing outside the ship? He got as close as he could to the end of the boat until he caught a glimpse of something moving in the water.
-Was it a small raft? On it was a beautiful woman. She was calling to him with her delicate hands and with those huge captivating eyes.

He decided to go for her. He lowered the boat with him in it. He approached the raft and now he could see her better. The woman had nothing on, but her long curly hair, like the color of the Madura cob, covered her. I don't know what happened to the man but he rushed into the arms of the girl who kept singing her intoxicating melody.
When they reached the beach, while the captain hid the boat, the girl took him by the hand and they went into the jungle. She was always singing her melody which kept him mesmerized.
After a long walk through dark paths, they arrived at the place where they heard sounds, laughter, and words that he did not understand. The captain imagined that those words were from people from foreign lands, with an unknown language. There he could see them surrounding a small stream. There were several girls gathered together. The amazing thing was that they all had long hair of different colors. Their hair covered their bodies up to their waists. And they all began to sing intoxicating melodies like the one that held the captain captive.
There were no men there, only girls singing sweetly. They all approached the captain, touching his body, his arms, his face, his hair, and his beard without stopping walking around him and always with his tune. It was the way to communicate with him. So they took him little by little, walking, to a solitary place.
There, only the girl who brought him stayed with him. Who began to remove the captain's clothes. He was as if in a kind of hypnotism by the songs he heard around him, stronger and stronger, and succumbed to the charms of the woman. Then everything came to a standstill in his mind.
In the morning, the captain woke up confused. He looked around him and saw that some kind of walruses, strange and fat, were lying near him. Thick drool was dripping from their mouths. All these creatures were peacefully asleep. Disgusting, the whole scene. Who were these species? Who were these creatures? Of the night he only remembered the girls singing.
He was totally naked, his body was covered with bruises. But he had no wounds of any other kind, anywhere. He looked for his clothes and, as best he could, tried to get out of there. He didn't know how he had let himself be manipulated by that woman of the night, to bring him to the terrible situation he was in now.
He ran as fast as he could, but...
-How to find his way back? He thought, "If in the night it was the woman who took me there, in total darkness.
He spent the whole day trying to find his way out of that place, but all to no avail. Night came and he was lost, lonely, and disoriented. Then he heard again the whisper of the previous night, that voice that hypnotized him, it was the woman's song.
She appeared, smiling, affectionate, with her soft melody that captivated him again. She takes him by the hand to her group of friends. The new cycle begins.
At dawn, the captain observes the same scene. The group of strange horrible creatures around him. His body with even more bruises. Everything hurt the leader, who took his clothes back.
This time he tried to follow the current of the stream there. To see where it would take him. He was lost, he would not get out of that place. He was already scared.
He didn't want to stay there another day, but how could he get out? He was physically and mentally deteriorated. His body was in a lot of pain, he didn't want to stay there any longer, waiting for the woman to appear at night and sing that melody for him. So he decided to look for some material with leaves from the trees to cover his ears. While he was orienting himself to escape from there. He would not hear the woman's song and so he would no longer follow her into the night.
He did not remember anything of what happened at night but he could tell that he was being abused by the pains and bruises he saw in the morning. What he knew was that those girls in the morning transformed into horrible amorphous creatures.
By the time he was able to reach the shore of the beach, after many failed attempts, it was already dark. He looked for his Escondido boat and found it. He climbed into it and headed for the ship that was still at anchor. He boarded the ship under the incredulous gaze of the crew members who asked him what had happened to him. They had been looking for him for two days and never found him, but the ship had been repaired and they were about to leave.
The captain told them that the sooner they got off the beach the better. The island had a mysterious charm that hypnotized and it would be difficult to leave if they found them that night.
-Another day I will tell you what happened," he said.
