Oh Deer Part Four

So, the last couple of days, while busy as usual, were also pretty fun. There were 2nd edition D&D interludes while snacking on slow roasted, smoked pork, a taco night MTG Commander-fest, a visit to my grandma and auntie complete with a homemade cookie delivery, burning of piles and trees, and so on and so forth.
Then the boy called.
Since my son nuked my car in January, he has hit two more deer driving home from work in the middle of the night. Thankfully, those previous two hits were just cosmetic bumper crushings on the ol Toyota Taco, but last night he really smacked one that ran between him and another car.
The Taco didn't fare as well.
The deer smacked the bottom of the left side of the radiator with style, curving and puncturing the radiator inward, blocking the cooling fan. He was able to drive the remaining eight miles home without the truck overheating, which was a good sign, but I swear to Musk my nerves are getting a bit frayed. Seriously, the boy has exactly three months to go before he ships out, quite literally, to the Navy.
If he hits a deer while aboard a ship I will implode!
So, the hubs is out in the garage using a block and tackle to gently pull the curve in the radiator out so the cooling fan can engage again. The Taco is pretty tough, it just needs to make it for two more months really, and I really, really don't want to go buy a car right now dangit!
Aside from the deertastrophe numero cuartro, things have been pretty excellent round here. The squill have started blooming, I have plant starts growing everywhere from the greenhouse to my living room window, we got multiple piles burned and stuff cleaned up this week, homestead living is zooming along.
And I only have a month of school left til summer break, which let me tell ya, I need. I adore school, but with the boy's graduation approaching, my daughter's birthday bash happening this month, my impending adventure that happens this fall, and just the normal amount of spring chores, let's just say I am looking forward to not having to write so many papers while I do it, even if I do enjoy the subject matter.
On that subject, I did get some excellent news, I was awarded quite a lot of money for school which makes me feel super blessed and like I am on the right track. My advisor even let me know that they were going to count two of my previous classes towards my degree in place of two I was going to have to take, so that means this fall I won't have to take two extra classes on top of my already full course load. Happy Kat about that!!
But now, now I am going to go help the hubs change the fuel filter and oil in our big tank of a truck. That was supposed to be our main chore of the day, but as anyone with kids knows, plans are always subject to change....

*And as most of the time, all of the images in this post were taken on the author's probably a lot less stressed than she currently is iPhone.*
