Meaningless...sort of

"Anyone who thinks they're important is usually just a pompous moron who can't deal with his or her own pathetic insignificance and the fact that what they do is meaningless and inconsequential." - William Thomas

How could something be meaningless, but only sort of.

I don't know, someone smarter than me will to work that out...and I'm sure there's plenty of important pompous morons, as William Thomas calls them above, on Hive who reckon they're one of those "smarter people."

I came across this tool the other day, statistics based on my time here since I first began in June 2017, and while all of it is simply meaningless data to me there were some interesting aspects. This'll be totally meaningless to you, as it should be, however I thought I'd put some of the meaningless data into a post for the sake of some meaningless reason I can't even think up right now.

Interesting, (to me not to you), that my posts are fairly consistent all days of the week and months - where I find the time I have no clue. Actually I do, I'm super productive, think and type fast and pre-plan.

This one is totally meaningful. Not really. However, there's a nice upward trend with my wordcount from the beginning to date. It flattened in 2025 but I know why - super busy in life, work and relationship and it's more important to dedicate time to those things.

Below indicates I primarily write a lot of words in my posts, (82.2% of my posts are text heavy), and I like that 96.3% of my posts are text heavy or text/image balanced.

Below talks to my vocabulary, total words written (over 3 million), and a solid number of unique words used. i.e. not stop words like: "the," "a," "is," "in," "and," "of," "it," "to," "that." I don't enjoy reading posts that too often use words like this so I'm mindful of doing it myself finding better ways to say what I want to say.

This one is cool, to me at least. Rare words used under 2 times in my posts - there's 24,613 of them; it includes words I've made up myself and typos/spelling errors. I downloaded the list and thought I'd add a few here for you: nuttier-than-squirrel-shit-lady, oldmanoblem, scooched, autumnish, australianise, milk-froth-thingy, cuntiness, fuckzactly, blamervikzammbleroopenroppertumbewip (this was an image filename), crocodocodocodocodile, clueless-fucktard-troll, chest-melons, nipple-tweaker, libidinous, druid, fuckfuckety. You get the idea.

I like this one which shows a list of words I use most and the frequency. I thought I'd use them all in the same sentence, the words are in bold.

"People should see their life and think of it as more than just the moment they're in; the things they do though, in the moment and the past should help them create their life around how they truly want to live in the present and future. We are all only here for a short time - live life well."

Here's another I like but it'll almost certainly be meaningless to you. Writing with an active voice is one of my goals although it doesn't always happen; it makes writing more engaging and clearer/easier to read. Happily, 92.3 of my writing is considered "active writing."

That's about it for today's meaningless statistics. There's others I could have included but I saw no point in adding any more statistics that are largely irrelevant to any but the person they relate to, and even then it's somewhat meaningless...sort of.

Link to the tool if you're interested.

In respect of my time here, I find the valid and interesting and engagement I receive and the relationships I've created have more value than a few statistics which is why I've not added a lot into this post.

What do you reckon about the relevance of your own, and other's, statistics? Do statistics make you feel important, does it validate your time here or are you more interested in the relationships like me?
