Greetings, friends. Welcome to another post on my blog. This time, I would like to share with you all a new figurine also inspired by Splinterlands. I had previously made another figurine inspired by Serpent Of The Flame.

Well, today I looked at Dragon Spirit to make this rocky-style figurine. I didn't want to make it realistic or anything like that. On the contrary, I wanted it to look like a gargoyle painted with bright colors. Below you can see an image of the card reference.

Bien, el día de hoy me fijé en Dragon Spirit para hacer esta figurita estilo rocoso. No deseaba hacerla estilo realista ni nada parecido, al contrario, como si fuese una gargola pintada con colores brillantes. A continuación pueden ver una imagen de la referencia de la carta.

As I said, my idea was to make a Rocky-style figurine, as if it were a stone statue. This was the result, and I would like you to join me in the step-by-step process of making this tiny statue.

Como dije, mi idea era hacer una figurita estilo rocoso, como si fuese una estatuilla de piedra. Este fue el resultado y me gustaría que me acompañaran en el paso a paso de tan pequeña estatuilla.

Step by step

The materials I used for this project were as follows:

• Plasticine
• Silver paint
• Glue
• Wire

Okay, let's get started. The first thing I did was take some purple plasticine and use it to mold the shape of the head, following the shapes you can see in the image below. I made a creature with its mouth wide open.

Los materiales que utilicé para este trabajo fueron los siguientes:

• Plastilina
• Pintura plateada
• Pegamento
• Alambre

Bien, vamos a empezar. Lo primero que hice fue tomar una plastilina de color morado, con este color comencé a moldear la forma de la cabeza, siguiendo estas formas que ven en la imagen de abajo. Hice una criatura con la boca bien abierta.

Once the jaws were done, I molded the eyes with red clay, giving it huge, pronounced eyebrows with purple clay, which makes it look angry.

Inside the creature's fearsome mouth, I placed a bright yellow tongue, and at the back of the head, I made a cylinder out of purple clay to place the creature's horns.

Una vez hecha las fauces moldeé los ojos con un color rojo, colocándole enormes y pronunciadas cejas con plastilina de color morado, lo cual lo hace parecer que está enojado.

Dentro de la temible boca de la criatura coloqué una lengua amarillo brillante y en la parte trasera de la cabeza hice un cilindro de plastilina morada en donde colocar la cornamenta de la criatura.

Speaking of horns, I made two rather unique horns in a slightly duller shade of yellow than the yellow of the tongue. Each horn is wavy but with a protrusion at the bottom, giving the impression that they are two horns in one.

I glued each of the pieces to the purple plasticine cylinder I had made earlier, so the horns were fixed in place.

I also made the dragon's body, as you can see in the image below, on the right. I glued the head to the body using glue and wire to give the body support and stability.

Hablando de cornamenta, hice dos cuernos bastante singulares de un color amarillo un poco más opaco que el amarillo de la lengua. Cada cuerno es ondulado pero con una saliente en la parte inferior, dando la impresión de que son dos cuernos en uno.

Cada una de las piezas los pegué con pegamento en el cilindro de plastilina morada que había hecho antes, así quedaron los cuernos fijos en su lugar.

Además, hice el cuerpo del dragón, tal como pueden ver en la imagen de abajo, a la derecha. La cabeza la pegué en el cuerpo también usando pegamento y alambre para dar soporte y estabilidad al cuerpo.

After that, I let the glue dry while I worked on another very striking part of the creature: its pair of enormous pink wings.

To make them, I first made a pattern on paper, which I then placed on a long, thin layer of pink plasticine. I used this pattern to cut out two very similar wings. They turned out as you can see in the image on the left.

Once the wing was ready, I added purple edges and a couple of lines running from the top corner to the three bottom corners. In addition to this, I attached a small piece of wire to each wing for support, to give the figurine more stability.

Luego de esto dejé que el pegamento secara mientras me ocupaba en otra pieza muy vistosa de la criatura, ese par de enormes alas de color rosado.

Para hacerla primeramente hice un patrón en papel el cual luego coloqué sobre una larga y delgada capa de plastilina color rosada. Este patrón me sirvió para cortar dos alas muy parecidas. Quedaron tal como se puede observar en la imagen de la izquierda.

Una vez lista el ala, coloqué bordes del mismo color morado y un par de líneas que van desde la esquina superior hacia las tres esquinas inferiores. Además de esto, como soporte, coloqué un trocito de alambre a cada ala, para dar mas estabilidad a la figurita.

So, using more glue, I secured each wing in place, on either side of the body and slightly behind the head, as you can see in the image below. After the glue dried, I used the rounded tip of a wooden stick to smooth out the joints.

Así pues, usando más pegamento, fijé cada ala en su sitio, a cada lado del cuerpo y un poco más atrás de la cabeza, tal como pueden ver en la iamgen de abajo. Luego de que el pegamento secó, usé la punta redondeada de un palillo de madera para suavizar las uniones.

Finally, the special touch that gave the figurine a more interesting look was the use of the drybrushing technique to cover it with a thin layer, creating the effect you see in the image below.

Por último, el toque especial para darle un aspecto más interesante a la figurita fue usar la técnica de pintado en seco para cubrirla con una delgada capa, creando este aspecto que ven en la imagen de abajo.

And that's how the figurine was finished. Below you can see a series of photographs of the final result:
