Greetings friends. As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have a small collection of self-made Pokémon figurines that I am putting together. So far I have only three, Omastar, Omanyte and Oddish.

Well, today I would like to share with you the creative process of this pair of Pokémon named Diglett and his evolution Dugtrio.

Saludos amigos. Cómo he comentado en publicaciones anteriores, tengo una pequeña colección que estoy armando de figuritas de Pokémon hechas por mi mismo. Hasta ahora llevo solo tres, Omastar, Omanyte y Oddish.

Pues bien, hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes el proceso creativo de este par de Pokémon llamados Diglett y su evolución Dugtrio.
Step by step
Diglett and Dugtrio are Pokémon that I find cute in their own way, I imagine them as sort of moles with very strange faces and it's always been debated what their body is like underground, it's one of the great Pokémon mysteries. Still, despite being enigmatic as to their form, I thought it would be cool to continue with these.
For this pair of figurines I used only plasticine. Because of the shape of the character it wasn't necessary to make a wire or wood base for this figure, it can stand by its very shape.
Well, the first thing I used was to divide the amount of brown plasticine I would need, so I made a long strip of this plasticine.
Paso a paso
Diglett y Dugtrio son Pokémon que me parecen simpáticos a su manera, los imagino como una suerte de topos con caras muy extrañas y siempre se ha debatido cómo es su cuerpo bajo tierra, es uno de los grandes misterios Pokémon. Aún así, pese a ser enigmáticos en cuanto a su forma, pensé que sería genial continuar con estos.
Para este par de figuritas usé solamente plastilina. Por la forma del personaje no fue necesario hacer una base de alambre o madera para esta figura, puede mantenerse por su misma forma.
Bien, lo primero que usé fue dividir la cantidad de plastilina marrón que necesitaría, así que hice una larga tira de esta plastilina.
This same long strip of plasticine I cut into four little pieces. Three of these pieces are of ascending size, one larger than the next.
On the other hand, the fourth little piece is of a similar size to the smallest of the other three little pieces.
Esta misma larga tira de plastilina la corté en cuatro pedacitos. Tres de esos pedacitos son de tamaño ascendente, uno más grande que el siguiente.
Por otra parte, el cuarto trocito es de un tamaño similar al más pequeño de los otros tres trocitos.
First I started working on the Diglett to know how to make the other character, Dugtrio.
I just made a small cylinder with a rounded top, as you can see in the image below. That's the shape these Pokémon have so that's the shape to make before continuing everything else.
Primero comencé a trabajar en el Diglett para saber cómo hacer al otro personaje, Dugtrio.
Solo hice un cilindro pequeño con la parte superior redondeada, tal cómo pueden ver en la imagen de abajo. Es la forma que tienen estos Pokémon así que es la forma que hay que hacer antes de continuar todo lo demás.
I made the nose out of an oval shape of pink play dough. I flattened it a little against the brown plasticine and it was ready.
I did practically the same with the eyes, only at a smaller proportion.
Hice la nariz con una forma ovalada de plastilina rosada. La aplasté un poco contra la plastilina marrón y quedó lista.
Hice prácticamente lo mismo con los ojos, solo que a una proporción menor.
After the face just continue working on what would be the rocky edges surrounding the Pokémon's body, to simulate it coming out of the ground.
Después del rostro solo continúe trabajando en lo que serían los bordes rocosos que rodean el cuerpo del Pokémon, para simular que está saliendo de la tierra.
As I said a few paragraphs above, the evolution of this Pokémon is Dugtrio, which is a Diglett but with three heads, each head being a different size.
Remember the other three plasticine sticks I cut? Well, these are to make these three Dugtrio heads, which I made in the same way as Diglett, with the variation that some were bigger than others.
Then I put the three together, as you can see in the image below:
Como dije unos párrafos más arriba, la evolución de este Pokémon es Dugtrio, que es un Diglett pero de tres cabezas, siendo cada cabeza de diferente tamaño.
¿Recuerdan las otras tres barritas de plastilina que corté? Pues bien, estás son para hacer estas tres cabezas de Dugtrio, las cuales hice de la misma manera que Diglett, con la variación de que algunas eran más grandes que otras.
Luego junté a las tres, tal cómo pueden ver en la imagen de abajo:
The last thing I did with this Dugtrio was to place the same rocks that I placed around the Diglett's lower body.
This way these two Pokémon figurines were finished. Below you can see a series of pictures of the final result:
Lo último que hice con este Dugtrio fue colocarle las mismas rocas que le coloqué al Diglett alrededor de la parte baja de su cuerpo.
De esta forma quedaron terminadas estás dos figuritas de Pokémon. A continuación pueden ver una serie de fotografías del resultado final:
Once these figures were ready, I added them to the collection along with the others I had already made.
Una vez listas estás figuras, las añadí a la colección junto a las otras que ya he hecho.
