Holding On to Small Beauty

By @funtraveller12/29/2025photography

A beautiful flower will always look beautiful in a photo, I’ve believed that since the first days of my 365 Days Photo Challenge. Flowers don’t try too hard. They simply show up, open up, and let the light do its thing. And maybe that’s why I keep coming back to them whenever I want to feel grounded.

Today I photographed this cluster of blooms and buds and turned it into a black-and-white collage. The petals were already lovely on their own, but in monochrome, I noticed different things: the soft folds of the flower, the tiny water droplets sitting like little beads, and the way the leaves frame the whole scene. Removing color feels like removing noise. It lets texture, shadow, and shape speak louder.

This challenge has been an interesting journey so far. I didn’t expect it to lead me to so many new plants around my neighborhood, or to teach me patience in such small moments, standing still, adjusting the angle, waiting for the light to soften. And I definitely didn’t expect to fall in love with black and white photography the way I have. There’s something timeless about it, like the photo becomes less about “what it looked like” and more about “how it felt.”

What I also love is how each day can hold both movement and creativity. A simple walk becomes exercise. A quick stop by a plant becomes a little project. Even a short photo session can turn into a reminder that I’m still learning, still noticing, still creating.

The quote I added says, “The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.” I agree. And sometimes, holding on can look like sharing a photo, a moment, a quiet piece of beauty.

Have a good day ahead.
