I have missed out something rather important. What happens if you do not have a target to work towards. That is a bit more difficult to write about because I have always had a target until recently, now I have artificial targets. They are not real but they do give a sense of achievement in the short term. So what does happen if you have no objective? Well, at first nothing, hey, it might even feel like a relief. After a while you may realise you are missing something, the sense of achievement when a target is reached, and the following renewed vigour going onto the next target. None of that then, so what do you get, a slow subsiding into a feeling of dissatisfaction and then depression. Depression breeds depression, and is hard to get out of. It saps your energy, nothing is worthwhile and so on. If you feel yourself slipping towards that you must identify what it is and know what the answer is. Pick a short term easy target, do it, feel good, pick another harder more long term target, and get up and running again.
