Push-up progress, 60 kilometers on the bycicle, five beers and one ouzo... my training diary entry from December 27 2025

(I don't know why, but I had to photograph this moss-covered tree. Somehow it caught my eye because it didn't fit in with the rest of its surroundings at all.)

Hi Actifitters,

yesterday was another really good training day. Initially, I was able to make small improvements in both regular and close-grip push-ups. Here are my numbers.

Regular push-ups

Current goal (120+):

set 1 set 2 set 3 set 4 set 5 set 6 set 7 set 8 break between sets
13 13 15 15 12 12 10 max (min. 30) 45 seconds

Previous performance (108):

set 1 set 2 set 3 set 4 set 5 set 6 set 7 set 8 break between sets
13 13 15 15 12 12 10 18 45 seconds

Yesterdays performance (110):

set 1 set 2 set 3 set 4 set 5 set 6 set 7 set 8 break between sets
13 13 15 15 12 12 10 20 45 seconds

I was able to do 2 repetitions more than last time and there are 10 more to go to finish the current goal.

Close-grip push-ups

Current goal (47+):

set 1 set 2 set 3 set 4 set 5 break between sets
9 11 8 8 max (min. 11) 60 seconds

Previous performance (38):

set 1 set 2 set 3 set 4 set 5 break between sets
9 10 7 7 5 60 seconds

Yesterdays performance (42):

set 1 set 2 set 3 set 4 set 5 break between sets
9 11 8 8 6 60 seconds

I was able to do 4 repetitions more than last time and there are 5 more to go to finish the current goal.

Cycling

After this exercises I sat on my indoor trainer to do a two hour session. My watch advised me to do 1 hour and 56 minutes at 120 watts. So I started pedaling. Sadly there was a moment when the connection between my Garmin watch and the smart trainer was not ok and the watt measurement was lost. At this moment I decided not to follow the plan anymore and I started to hit the pedals a bit harder to finish 60 kilometers within two hours and thats what I did in the end.


In the afternoon, we had unexpected visitors and decided to go to a Greek restaurant together. Things got a bit more lively than planned, and suddenly I had a lot of greasy food, an ouzo, and five beers in my system. As a result, I slept terribly last night, and my fitness level is pretty low.

Therefore, I've decided not to train today. Instead, I'll go for a short walk and get some fresh air. I'll try to rest for the rest of the day so I'm back in top form tomorrow.
