Back on track in push-ups and cycling break... my training diary entry from December 25 2025

(Another shot from one of my walks along the Isar a week ago. A busy beaver must have been at work here.)

Hi Actifitters,

hope you have had a peaceful Christmas with your loved ones so far and wish you all the best for Boxing Day as well.

Yesterday was push-up day and I am happy to be back on track. After my setback in regular and close grip push-ups I was able to achieve the last amount of repetitions as two sessions before. So now I am condident to make further progress within the next sessions.

Regular push-ups

Current goal (120+):

set 1 set 2 set 3 set 4 set 5 set 6 set 7 set 8 break between sets
13 13 15 15 12 12 10 max (min. 30) 45 seconds

Previous performance (102):

set 1 set 2 set 3 set 4 set 5 set 6 set 7 set 8 break between sets
13 13 15 15 12 12 10 12 45 seconds

Yesterdays performance (108):

set 1 set 2 set 3 set 4 set 5 set 6 set 7 set 8 break between sets
13 13 15 15 12 12 10 18 45 seconds

I am still 12 repetitions away from reaching my goal but it will happen soon... I am sure!

Close-grip push-ups

Current goal (47+):

set 1 set 2 set 3 set 4 set 5 break between sets
9 11 8 8 max (min. 11) 60 seconds

Previous performance (36):

set 1 set 2 set 3 set 4 set 5 break between sets
9 11 8 5 3 60 seconds

Yesterdays performance (38):

set 1 set 2 set 3 set 4 set 5 break between sets
9 10 7 7 5 60 seconds

It's interesting to see that the number of repetitions completed within each set still varies. I'm curious to see how this develops.

On top of the both push-up variations I made a lot of shoulder exercises. I'm sure I'll have some serious muscle soreness tomorrow. Since I had to give up cycling due to my shin muscle problems, I did this additional shoulder workout.


I'm still not sure if I'll exercise today. I actually wanted to take a rest day, but somehow I feel a bit guilty after all the Christmas treats. On the other hand, it certainly wouldn't hurt to take a day off to give my shin muscles a rest. We will see what the day brings.
