I could not stop laughing upon seeing this post; the jail term mentioned is so funny. It would be better if compulsory medical check-ups could be mandated for every citizen, and the jail term attached to it is a good incentive because people generally dislike going to the hospital for anything. I've been feeling unwell for the past three weeks now and have refused to visit any doctor to find out what's wrong with me. Why? Because it can be frustrating to see a doctor only to be told to take a paracetamol. No tests are performed to ascertain the actual cause of the sickness; that's a common oversight some of them make and I guess that's the reason majority won't go for check-up if it is not compulsory.
Implementing compulsory medical check-ups for everyone can be well functioning in a developed country not a country that is under-develop. How can people that have not eaten and have no means visit an hospital for checkup? Even we, as government workers that certain amount is being deducted every month from our salary for health insurance is not in anyway benefitting. The health officials make it worse by telling no prescribed drugs on ground, so you have to go get it on your own.
Mandatory checkups can have both positive and negative impacts on individuals and society.
Positive Impacts
- Regular check-ups can help identify health issues before they become severe, preventing complications and improving treatment outcomes. Many individuals who lost their lives due to unresolved health issues might have been saved if those conditions were detected and treated early for example: Cancer, Diabetes , Tuberculosis and so on.
- Regular interactions with healthcare professionals can empower individuals to take charge of their health, make informed decisions, follow the Dos and Don'ts and adopt healthier habits.
- Routine check-ups can lead to preventive care, thereby reducing the financial burden of treating chronic conditions and emergencies such as cancer and kidney disease, among others.
Negative Aspects
- Mandatory check-ups could be seen as an invasion of privacy and an infringement on individual autonomy aferall, we all have our right to freedom.
- Implementing and enforcing compulsory check-ups could lead to increased healthcare costs, potentially straining the system and negatively impacting those who cannot afford it. If the government is not ready to reduce the cost or take the larger percentage of the bills,This could be seen as a financial burden. How many people can afford the cost when diagnosed?
- Forcing individuals to undergo medical check-ups could cause undue stress and anxiety, particularly for those with past traumatic experiences or mental health concerns.
Failure to do so could mean jail term or being fined. This alone can make everyone rush to the hospital before the year comes to an end, hence, they will have to face a penalty for not taking care of their health 🤣 It actually sounds good to me but how do you think this will affect everyone? Not in my country because so many people would have to face the penalty🤣🤣
