The holiday season always reminds me of how much joy can come from the simplest moments. This year, one thing stood out clearly: my favourite way to spend the holidays is simply being around people I love. Even though I’m just three months postpartum and still adjusting to life with a newborn again, I made time to hang out with my friends—wives, moms, women who understand the rhythm of life I’m living right now. And honestly, it was worth every second.

We didn’t do anything extravagant. It was just a small get-together, the kind filled with laughter, inside jokes, and that warm feeling of belonging. We exchanged tiny gifts—nothing fancy, just thoughtful little items that brought big smiles. One of the funniest moments was when someone packaged single bananas as gifts, giving each person one piece. We laughed so hard. It was silly, unexpected, and absolutely perfect.

We played games, danced, took pictures, and simply allowed ourselves to have fun without pressure, of course there were refreshments too. For a few hours, I wasn’t just a tired new mom—I was a friend, a woman, someone allowed to enjoy life although I went home early because of my baby.

If I had more money, I’d spend even more time hanging out, creating memories, and enjoying experiences like that. And of course, I’d love more moments playing and hanging out with my kids during the holidays. But right now, making ends meet is the priority.

Still, this season reminded me that joy doesn’t always require much. Sometimes, all you need is good company, shared laughter, and a little bit of freedom.
