I'm The New Kid on The Block
Hi there and welcome to my first post on hive. I suppose at this point i should tell you a little about myself. Here goes...
My privacy is very important to me. I have come to believe that the dream we were sold about the internet wasn't a lie but was stolen from us. I don't like the orwellian dystopia we seem to be moving towards.
Because of this i began researching censorship resistant social media. This led me to posts on hive about 3speak from people like @taskmaster4450 and @theycallmedan.
At this point I didn't know that hive was a cryptocurrency. Once I found that part out, it was a done deal. I've wanted to invest in crypto for a while but i just don't have the funds. Now I find out that I can earn for free...
Just try keeping me away from that.
As I dug around on hive I found many ways I can earn. Apparently I can even earn for sharing posts on twitter through a program called posh.
Crazy stuff man...
Other Interests
As you might have guessed from my profile pic I'm a fan of G.I. Joe. I'm an 80s child and a huge fan of 80s cartoons and tv. In fact im a huge fan of almost all pop culture artifacts dating from the mid 90s all the way back to silent films and pulp mags.
I've done some preliminary research and found communities on hive for things that fall into this category so perhaps I'll be able to contribute there.
In addition to old cartoons, tv, comics, and toys I'm also into old tech.
I still do all the things i did on the internet in the old days. I regularly browse bbs and gopher sites. I use a modern protocol called gemini which is kinda like a mix between gopher and www. I'm an irc operator on a network that has been around for over 20 years. I'm a big believer in the original vision of the internet as a decentralized realm where people can interact and share. It is for this reason that I continue to use arcane apps that most of the world has forgotten, but this is also why I am taking these steps into the future of blockchain on hive.
Goals
This might seem like I'm aiming too high but I will settle for nothing less than freedom. I'm an anarchist, an agorist to be exact. I see this system for what it is -- slavery+trinkets. Like many a slave from the past I know that my only hope is to buy my freedom.
I'm doing that right now, one keystroke at a time.
