La liga venezolana de béisbol profesional (LVBP) ha continuado su andar, desde el día miércoles próximo pasado. Apenas, cerca de 7000 boletos fueron vendidos para los dos partidos escenificados ese día y creemos, firmemente, la gente volverá a los juegos a partir de éste fin de semana. Anoche pagaron sus boletos 4790 personas para el Cardenales-Bravos y 4118 para el juego Caribes-Magallanes, ambas cifras muy bajas para los estándares de asistencia, pero se comprende la renuencia de las personas a abandonar sus hogares. Además, quizás la escalada de precios ha podido mermar la intención de entretenerse, dada las prioridades en el hogar. En cualquier caso, la liga comenzará anunciar los finalistas a los diferentes premios por el desempeño en temporada. Hoy se anunciarán los competidores por el novato del año y por el regreso del año. Mañana corresponderá en turno a los finalistas de los premios “Carrao” Bracho al Pitcher del Año, “Chico” Carrasquel al Manager del Año y "Víctor Davalillo" al Jugador Más Valioso de la zafra 2025-2026.

The Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) kept rolling since last Wednesday. Barely around 7,000 tickets moved for the two ballgames that day, and we’re betting fans will start showing up again this weekend. Last night, 4,790 paid to watch Cardenales-Bravos and 4,118 for Caribes-Magallanes, both way below the usual crowd numbers, but folks are still hesitant to leave their homes. Plus, the price hike might’ve cooled off the urge to hit the park, with household priorities taking the lead. Either way, the league is about to drop the finalists for the season awards. Today they’ll announce the contenders for Rookie of the Year and Comeback Player of the Year. Tomorrow it’s the turn for the “Carrao” Bracho Pitcher of the Year, the “Chico” Carrasquel Manager of the Year, and the “Víctor Davalillo” MVP of the 2025-2026 campaign.
El lunes 12, se conocerán los finalistas para el set up del año, al cerrador del año y al productor del año, todos seleccionados a través de fórmula matemática. En el caso del set up del año se suman tres puntos por cada hold o ventaja conservada por el lanzador, otros dos por victoria, y se le restan dos por revés o por chance de rescate perdida. El cerrador del año se conoce por la sumatoria de tres puntos por juego salvado, dos por cada triunfo, y se restan dos por cada derrota o por cada ocasión de salvado desperdiciada. Para ambos galardones no se toman en cuenta las derrotas recibidas por aquellos relevistas que permitieron las rayitas de la diferencia a través de la regla panamericana, por lo que no se contabiliza en el resultado final. En cuanto al productor del año se le suma a cada bateador dos puntos por cada carrera remolcada y anotada, uno por base alcanzada y por cada boleto, y se le resta una unidad por cada hombre dejado en posición anotadora para obtener el resultado definitivo.

On Monday the 12th, the league will drop the finalists for Set Up of the Year, Closer of the Year, and Producer of the Year, all picked through a numbers formula. For the Set Up award, it’s three points for every hold, two for a W, minus two for a loss or blown save chance. The Closer of the Year gets three points per save, two for a win, and loses two for every L or wasted save opportunity. For both awards, losses charged to relievers under the Pan-American rule don’t count in the final tally. As for Producer of the Year, each hitter racks up two points for every run batted in and scored, one for each base reached and walk, and loses one for every runner left stranded in scoring position to get the final score
Desde el 13 y hasta el 17, se anunciarán los ganadores finales y los galardones se entregarán el 26 de Enero. Anoche, los Cardenales de Lara le dieron una felpa a los Bravos de Margarita con pizarrón de 13 carreras a 6. Solo tres episodios necesitaron los guaros para poner una distancia en el marcador que jamás igualarían los indígenas. Otra emboscada de 7 carreras en la apertura del sexto episodio, terminó por meter el juego en el congelador por ventaja de 8 carreras. El abridor refuerzo del Caracas jugando para Cardenales Wilmer Font, controló la bravía ofensiva isleña al limitarlos a una sola carrera y 4 hits en cinco episodios completos, con tres ponchados en su haber. Danry Vásquez y Alí Sánchez impulsaron cuatro carreras cada uno para la causa barquisimetana. Con el laurel, Cardenales se mantiene invicto con 3 victorias en éste round robin, mientras que Bravos pierde por segunda vez en tres juegos, ocupando la 4ta posición.

From the 13th through the 17th, the league will roll out the final winners, with the hardware handed out on January 26. Last night, Cardenales de Lara put a beating on Bravos de Margarita with a 13–6 scoreboard. The guaros only needed three innings to build a gap the island squad could never close. Another 7-run ambush in the top of the sixth iced the game with an 8-run cushion. Reinforcement starter from Caracas, Wilmer Font, pitching for Cardenales, tamed the fiery Bravos bats by holding them to just one run and 4 knocks across five full frames, fanning three along the way. Danry Vásquez and Ali Sánchez each drove in four runs to power the Barquisimeto crew. With the W, Cardenales stay perfect at 3–0 in this round robin, while Bravos drop their second in three games, sitting in the 4th spot.
Por último, en el Estadio José Bernardo Pérez de Valencia, Caribes de Anzoátegui le pasó por encima a los Navegantes del Magallanes 10 carreras a 4. Los filibusteros siguen sin ver luz en la liguilla y no han podido ganar su primer encuentro todavía. Caribes, din embargo, ha podido ganar 2 de 4 y se encuentra a mitad de tabla. 20 fueron los lanzadores usados por ambos conjuntos, en lo que debe ser un registro para round robin (sin confirmar). Caribes se adelantó con cinco carreras en los dos primeros episodios, estableciendo una ventaja que jamás perdería en el resto del encuentro. Finally, at José Bernardo Pérez Stadium in Valencia, Caribes de Anzoátegui steamrolled Navegantes del Magallanes 10–4. The filibusteros still can’t catch a break in the round robin and are winless so far. Caribes, meanwhile, have taken 2 of 4 and sit mid-table. A whopping 20 pitchers were used between both squads, which might be a round robin record (unconfirmed). Caribes jumped ahead with five runs in the first two frames, building a lead they never let go. Hernán Pérez and Diego Infante lit up the eastern lineup, each driving in two runs with their swings. Today the tourney keeps rolling with the slate: Navegantes-Águilas (5:00 p.m. local time) and Cardenales-Bravos (7:00 p.m.), with Magallanes getting the night off. Looking forward to your takes.
