Book 5: A Dangerous Path

I think this one was kind of underwhelming for me after the previous two especially because of the first couple chapters with Fireheart trying to keep the clan together while Bluestar was completely gone off the rocker and spiralling, Tigerstar is doing who knows what sinister nonsense, and now we’ve got a whole dog pack??? EXCUSE ME??? PACK, PACK, KILL, KILL has permanently lodged itself in my brain and I don't like it.
I genuinely did not think this series would keep escalating like this. Every book just punches harder than the last, and this one?? Absolutely brutal. I mean, Tigerstar straight-up FED A PACK OF DOGS and set them on ThunderClan, like who even thinks like this??? Fireheart is fighting threats on every side, and he still has to deal with his own clan being ungrateful idiots half the time.
Bluestar though as annoying as it kinda got, a part of me hoped she’d pull through, but I get it. It still hurts though. From the moment she stopped trusting StarClan, I knew we were heading toward the end, but it was kinda sweet her last act was saving Fireheart. Also those final moments with Mistyfoot and Stonefur? Swiftpaw did NOT deserve to die like that and then Brightpaw Bluestar naming her LOSTFACE?? Glad Cinderpelt and Fireheart are there for her
Rating this a 3. I enjoyed it but also hated every second because my nerves are fried and my heart is in pieces. This series is actually unhinged and I was not expecting this wild a kids series called 'Wild Cats" to be.
