The weather is getting serious in this part of the world, winter is showing its teeth today and it's going to do the same again on Sunday, by wrapping us in snow and -10C temperatures. I'm not complaining as it's winter, if not now, when should we get snow and cold, right?

Unlike other countries, we have light as well, sunlight, which is priceless and starting from the morning hours. You get up and when you get to your workplace (if you're on a 9 to 5 schedule, or 8 to 4), you can already see the sun shining most of the days.
What you can't see is this period of the year is colors. Or better yet, you can only see just a few colors, which are white (now that we have snow), (not quite fifty shades of) grey and black. There are a few pines that are still green and some places still have green grass (for now), but that's it.
So today I'm going to post some colors for you, which I think are welcome. The photos are from an exhibition I visited in August, when it was melting hot and life was really good. Not that it's bad now, just a bit different. It's nice to remember those nice days though.

Birth of Life (micro-macro world) - 60x60cm, oil on canvas (2024)
This was a solo exhibition of Edith Vári Váncza, a very talented artist, with a very particular painting style. At first glance all you see is a big colorful mess on the canvas, but when you take a step closer and look for the details, a whole new world opens up in front of your eyes.

Light And Shadow - 40x40cm, acrylic on canvas (2025)
Here you're free to interpret this as you like. You can see a hill or a pasture with some shadows. It's up to you.

Path of Meditation - 40x40cm, oil on canvas (2024)
This painting is a bit different from the rest and if I wouldn't know it's the same artist, would think it's someone else, but this is not a bad thing. The difference between this work and the rest is the more discrete colors. As you can see, colors are more warm, more autumnal, much needed for meditation, in my opinion. It's kind of an abstract landscape, but I'm really drawn to these lately. Would love to have it honestly.

Small Waterfall - 30x40cm, acrylic on canvas (2020)

Warm Breeze - 30x40cm, acrylic on canvas (2023)
If I were to use one keyword for the last two paintings, apart messy, that would be rough and would refer to the style, but not in a bad sense of the word. I see this style more and more lately. Most likely it is not what most are looking for, but I see it as leaving room for imagination.

Above The Clouds - 25x30cm, acrylic on canvas (2019)
If you've ever taken a longer flight, to fly above the clouds, you know nothing looks like the painting. You have the thick, white clouds beneath the plane, the blue sky and the sun, so basically you have three well defined colors, but this is art and sky is the limit when it comes to expressing your thoughts. I love the frame here, it's a very stylish one.

Water Lilies - 30x20cm, acrylic on canvas (2019)
We all know what lakes with water lilies look like, even if we haven't seen much in real life. I've only seen these lovely flowers a few times as the climate is not suitable for growing them here, winters are too cold for them. What I have to mention here is the extra colors the artist added to the scene. Blue is dominating, dark blue actually, acting as if it would be the sky.

Mountain Peak - 30x20cm, acrylic on canvas (2019)
Another artwork that leaves a lot to your imagination and the landscape is not well defined, you don't see trees, bushes, or the creek, just roughly painted on the canvas with bright colors.

The Husk - 60x60cm, acrylic on canvas (2025)
This is an interesting one, especially for those who like supernatural movies. I'll let you tell me what you see here or what you think you see, to be precise :)
This is it for today, a very different type of art, but good one. Let me know if you have any preferences here.
