When I was younger, I wondered constantly How To Get Out of The Friend Zone. I was frustrated that I was stuck and not seen the way I wanted to be seen. Maybe, I thought if I maneuvered my way into magical special scenarios, they'd see me in a new way and we wouldn't just be friends.
I tried. Didn't work.
It wasn't until college that I started to realize some new truths about the infamous Friend Zone and why that popular narrative isn't quite the full picture.
Recently I heard John Mayer's New Light on the radio and my reaction was huge bursting out laughing realizing how much my views on the friend zone have evolved and changed. What if I was lacking and missing out a lot less than I thought?
