There are things that are basic in life and there things that are casual. Life can be managed without the casual things but when those which are basic are tampered with, a lot of consequences would follow.
Most times when people talk about these basic things, they like to describe them as “Life”. Meaning, they fuel life. Unfortunately, there are only a few things that have been given that qualification: water, food, and music.
Several times, I have heard people call these things life, and I can't agree less because of the role they play in our lives. If you take them out of the picture, we may suffer, and the end result may be terrible.
Music is life indeed, I am much aware that it means different things to different people, to some it is a companion, to some an entertainer, and so on.
But one thing I know is that wherever it goes, it carries life along; it is like a light that illuminates every dark place. Wherever it goes, no matter how dark the place is, it shines and gives light to people.
I don't know if you have ever had this encounter, you go for an occasion, and everything is looking dull and boring, then suddenly, the DJ plays a nice song, and your mood, the occasion, and the entire environment change and suddenly become lively. I have witnessed that several times.
Music is an essential part of our lives, there is a part of us that only music can satisfy. This is why we can be in a situation where everything else seems annoying, but the moment we introduce music, the whole thing turns around.
It is also a kind of food that nourishes our soul. There are many people out there that music is a pill for them. They have experienced so many terrible things in life that have devastated them, and nothing seems to be able to give them hope but music.
Whenever they are down, the first thing they want to listen to is that song that understands their situation, and like magic, it will gradually erode the pain and the pressure.
Life is designed to have music in it; if you check our cultures, you would discover that music is an integral part of them. There's no festival that people organize without music.
Cultural dances are always accompanied by music; in fact, there is no dance without music. What would you be dancing to?
I can not for a day imagine how life would be if music didn't exist. I am not even sure that music won't even exist.
There is no way music won't still come into existence because whenever people are excited and merry, they would want to express it in their actions by clapping of hands, jumping, moving their bodies, and creating melodies with their voices, that is exactly what music is.
However, if music were never in existence, maybe we may cope since we are ignorant of it and its privileges.
But trust me, life would be so boring, I can't imagine going to an occasion and everywhere is just dull and quiet, with no music in the background to bring the people together and make the environment lively.
That environment would become like hell for me, and trust me, I won't be able to relate to whatever information they are going to pass across, unless they do everything snappy and dismiss everyone on time.
Our cultures would be affected too, music is one of the things that makes our cultures stand out. It's part of the things that makes people want to know more about us, if music is not in the picture, dances won't be alive either, and that's going to affect a lot of cultures.
