Hello, Hive friends. Today I am happy to share with you a new project; this time it is a crazy hat with a vertebrate animal theme, which was used in my son's school educational parade and in his exhibition on this topic.

Vertebrate animals, as we know, are all animals that have bones, which means that it includes a large number of animals, giving us a lot of creative freedom to carry out this project.

I had an advantage in this project because I already had experience with the first crazy hat, which I shared a while ago, so I won't dwell too much on the process of putting the hat together. I invite you to read that post for more details.

To create this crazy hat, I used only recycled materials and cutouts from prints and images I already had at home, so it was an inexpensive, easy, and fun project.

Materials:

• 1 recycled brown folder
• Cardboard
• Silicone
• Adhesive tape
• Shiny wrapping paper
• Colored pens
• Brown corrugated foam
• Cotton
• Green and blue foam
• White sheets of paper
• Watercolors: yellow, blue, and green
• Rulers, scissors, pencil
• Foam scraps
• Animal cutouts

Procedure

• The assembly was very simple: I took the previous crazy hat and covered it with the brown folder to take the measurements, held it in place, and cut it. I took a piece of cardboard and drew the two diameters, cut it out with a craft knife; on both edges of the folder, I left a tab to attach the base ring and the top cover, and that's it, I assembled the hat that easily, without measuring anything.

• I covered the base ring with shiny green paper that was originally a pretty gift bag that was starting to deteriorate. I also cut a strip of green foam and glued it to the edge to secure the paper and make it comfortable to wear.

• The next step was to decorate it; my idea was to divide the hat and show different natural ecosystems, displaying some animals from each group of vertebrates such as mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. To do this, I looked for prints, wrapping paper, cutouts, cards, and anything else I could use that was related. I covered the hat with white sheets of paper and a beautiful print I found of a waterfall.

• I started making some foam figures; my son helped me throughout the process. We drew a little frog using a circle ruler, cut out the pieces, and saved them to assemble later.

• In my materials, I found some brown corrugated foam that I didn't even remember I had, so I used it to make some trees. I drew directly on the foam and cut it out.

• I thought it would be nice to have a bird standing out on the tree, so we used one that my son had, used it as a mold, and cut out several pieces to create the bird by overlapping layers. Some time ago, I bought these colored feathers at the Castillo store, which we used to give the bird more body and texture. We placed it on the tree, and everything was taking shape.

• Paint the white sheets with green, blue, and yellow colors to create a gradient background to glue some cutouts and create a jungle ecosystem on the hat; luckily, I had the label from a toy bag that had lions, tigers, and giraffes on it.

• Little by little, we decorated the hat with my child's creativity, and to finish, all that was left was to cover the top of the hat base. For this, I used green foam; to make the process easier, I cut it into strips and glued them one by one, making sure to glue the edges well. To finish, I created some clouds with cotton wool and, on the top of the hat, I cut out my son's name and glued it onto some blue foam clouds.

• I glued some of the cutouts onto the base of the hat so that they would stick out and create a 3D effect.

Result

And so the crazy hat of vertebrate animals was left for these carnivals and for the defense of the first project of the second term of my child, who is in first grade.

Hola, amigos de Hive. Hoy estoy feliz de compartir con ustedes un nuevo proyecto; en esta ocasión se trata de un sombrero loco con la temática de animales vertebrados, el cual fue usado en el desfile pedagógico de la escuela de mi hijo y en su exposición sobre este tema.

Los animales vertebrados, como sabemos, son todos los animales que tienen huesos, lo que hace que incluya un gran número de animales, lo que nos dio mucha libertad creativa para realizar este proyecto.

Tenía una ventaja en este proyecto y es que ya tenía la experiencia del primer sombrero loco, el cual compartí hace un tiempo, así que no me detendré mucho en el proceso del armado del sombrero y los invito a leer ese post para más detalles.

Para crear este sombrero loco, usé solo materiales de reciclaje y recortes de impresiones e imágenes que ya tenía en casa, así que fue un proyecto económico, fácil y divertido.

Materiales:

• 1 carpeta marrón reciclada
• Cartón
• Silicón
• Cinta adhesiva
• Papel de regalo brillante
• Plumas de colores
• Foami acanalado marrón
• Algodón
• Foami verde y azul.
• Hojas blancas
• Acuarela, amarillo, azul y verde
• Reglas, tijeras, lápiz.
• Retazos de foami.
• Recortes de animales.

Procedimiento

• El armado fue muy sencillo: tomé el sombrero loco anterior y lo cubrí con la carpeta marrón para tomar las medidas, sujeté y corté. Tome un cartón y dibuje los dos diámetros, recorte con un exacto; en ambos bordes de la carpeta deje una pestaña para sujetar el anillo base y la tapa superior y listo, así de fácil arme el sombrero, sin medir nada.

• El anillo de base lo forré con un papel brillante verde que inicialmente era una linda bolsa de regalo que se me estaba deteriorando. También corté una tira de foami verde y la pegué en el borde para asegurar el papel y para que quedase cómodo al momento de usarlo.

• El siguiente paso era decorarlo; mi idea era dividir el sombrero y mostrar distintos ecosistemas naturales, así mostrar algunos animales de cada grupo de vertebrados como los mamíferos, aves, reptiles, anfibios y peces. Para ello busqué impresiones, papel de regalo, recortes, tarjetas y todo lo que pudiese usar que estuviera relacionado. Cubrí el sombrero con hojas blancas y una impresión hermosa que encontré de una cascada.

• Comencé a realizar algunas figuras de foami; mi hijo me ayudó en todo el proceso. Dibujamos una ranita usando la regla de círculos, recortamos y guardamos las piezas para armarlas posteriormente.

• En mis materiales, encontré un foami marrón acanalado que ni siquiera recordaba que tenía, así que con él creé algunos árboles. Dibujando directamente en el foami recortando.

• Pensé que estaría lindo que en el árbol sobresaliera un ave, entonces usamos uno que tenía mi hijo, lo usamos de molde y cortamos varias piezas para crear el ave por superposición de capas. En la tienda el Castillo, hace un tiempo compré estas plumas de colores, las cuales usamos para darle mas cuerpo y textura al ave lo colocamos sobre el árbol y todo estaba tomando forma.

• Pinte las hojas blancas con colores verde, azul y amarillo para crear un fondo degradado para pegar algunos recortes y crear un ecosistema selvático en el sombrero; por suerte tenía la etiqueta de una bolsa de juguetes que tenía leones, tigres y jirafas.

• Poco a poco fuimos decorando el sombrero con la creatividad de mi niño y para finalizar, solo nos quedaba forrar la parte superior de la base del sombrero. Para eso usé un foami verde; para facilitar el proceso, lo corté en tiras y las fui pegando una a una, pegando muy bien en los bordes. Para finalizar, creé algunas nubes con algodón y en la parte superior del sombrero recorté el nombre de mi niño y lo pegué sobre unas nubes de foami azul.

• Algunos recortes los pegué sobre la base del sombrero para que sobresalieran y crearan un efecto 3D.

Resultado

Y así quedó el sombrero loco de animales vertebrados, para estos carnavales y para la defensa del primer proyecto del segundo lapso de mi niño, quien está en primer grado.
