The card images for the inaugural land card set have arrived and they look amazing, another win for the creative team!
I have spoken before about what I will and wont be able to craft from the new land card set and the full announcement can be found at https://peakd.com/splinterlands/@splinterlands/splinterlands-inaugural-land-card-edition-full-announcement-and-technical-specification so I wont rehash that, but its probably time to have a check on how close we are to crafting my allocation when it comes around, hopefully early December, and have a look at what the cards are going to look like when we get them.
The abilities these card add to to the game will change the landscape of Praetoria quite a bit!
Giving your grain plots a boost while reducing the cost of both powering the plot and feeding the workers is going to see a nice increase in my production (if I can get the card to where I want it!)

My second largest number of plots are wood, so again increasing Wood production while reducing costs is going to make my life easier, but need to look out for some cheap elf workers to fully benefit from this one!

Choices to be made if you can max this one out, I wont be..., Adding to both Stone and Grain production (but not at the same time) and giving a discount on DEC staking - Need a Mundane Beast to take full advantage of the Toil and Kin ability.

Again a choice to be made between Iron and Aura this time, 99% DEC discount is amazing though! Needs some fellow undead to get the best out of his mining skills.

To be honest, I'm a bit further behind than I had hoped in my resource collecting... although I haven't harvested my keep yet for the week so that will get me most of the way with the grain and following that I'll have to trade grain for wood to get me over the line for my rare allocation, I may just craft 3 of the rare during the allocation rights period (3 days from launch) to have more grain to push for the 7 additional commons I would need to get to level 4.

The introduction of Cinder as a requirement that cant be harvested from land makes crafting these cards a real choice, with the return of survival on the horizon choosing which cards I want to burn is going to be difficult but at least chasing the 30 commons does not have a massive impact on what I would need to burn compared to my allocation numbers.
It's still going to be a difficult decision on whether it is worth putting this card on my land, At level 3 I would be reducing my current DEC/hr from 2.508/h to 2.283/h while at level 4 it would be 2.505/h

Obviously the benefit of a power core and a unit being able to be reused on another plot is a benefit of effectively 2000 hours so it makes total sense to do it, whether this particular plot is the one will take a little more planning.
Overall I think the land cards are a great first step in getting us to the point of crafting cards for the arena and I expect the take up of this to be pretty quick once the allocation period expires - If anyone has any spare commons they wont be needing let me know!

If you are just finding splinterlands and want to give it a try, here's my ambassador link, would be great to see you in the arena or the worksites of praetoria!
