Large birds, up to 1.5 m in height, on red, very long legs with membranes between the fingers. The legs and neck are noticeably longer than the crane. Color white and pink. Adults have a sharp bend downwards in the middle of a thick beak. The neck is long and thin. Straightened wings at the ends are painted black due to fly feathers. The extension of the wing to the axillary region is red. They are painted in a dirty white color with a brownish coating on top. A light pink shade is inherent only in the axillary part. Their paws are leaden.
