Hi there. Here is a Pokemon TCG local tournament blog by me. I head out to Toronto to do some shopping, play a small local tournament and do some out of house dining.

Local Tournament Format
This local tournament is a best of one format for 3 rounds. It is a free entry where you win a prize pack for each win. Not all stores are this generous with their prizing. With a free entry and lots of prizing, it is a way to get players into the store. It is also good for the Pokemon TCG scene when the barrier to entry is low and the tournament is more casual and low stakes.
Raging Bolt With Solrock & Lunatone Decklist
I play Raging Bolt ex with the Solrock & Lunatone engine. This list may be off by a few cards. I copied and pasted from Pokemon TCG Live game client decklist.

Round One Versus Alakazam
My round one opponent was someone I have faced before at least 5 times. This round was kind of entertaining. She asked me what deck I wanted to play. It was one of these 3:
- Marnie's Grimmsnarl ex
- Wugtrio Mill Deck
- Alakazam

I don't like facing any of these 3 lol. We did a randomized roll of a six sided die. 1 or 4 was Grimmsnarl, 2 or 5 was Wugtrio and the others was Alakazam. A six was rolled so I was up against Alakazam.

I don't like facing against Alakazam decks. There is so much shuffling and in theory they have a good prize trade advantage against you.
To my slight surprise I win this matchup comfortably. She put Fezandipiti ex in play twice so I knocked out it out twice to win the prize trade race. I did get lucky in the sense that I had Iono when I needed it and I had Boss's Orders when I needed it too. My deck did function normally and did not get bad luck.

This was a good win against a very dangerous non-meta deck.
Round 2 Versus Dragapult ex & Charizard ex
I face a familiar opponent in round 2. We played each other before once. I remember him having a Dragapult ex and Charizard ex in our 2 wins and 0 losses match. I lost a close game in our previous meeting.
I do start my first turn going second after winning the coin flip. The opponent had a bad first turn. It was just a lone Dreepy and a single energy then end turn.
In my first turn, I sequence my cards correctly. I did need a Solrock, Lunatone, a Penny from the hand and one Fighting Energy for the first turn knockout win. The opponent had no backup Pokemon so I win in a minute. I don't like winning like this but you take it.

After the game, I did offer a rematch just for practice purposes. I lost this one. There was one turn where I missed a knockout on the Dragapult ex with my Raging Bolt ex. I was 1 energy short.

I am 2 wins and 0 losses here. At this point, I am okay with whatever happens in the next round. I get prizing at this point with the one pack per win ruling.
Round 3 Versus Joltik + Miraidon ex (Joltik Box)
My third round opponent was a repeat opponent again. I have faced at least seven times at this place. We have mutual respect for each other and our skill.
I did not have great luck around turn 3. Lillie's Determination gave me a not so good hand of 8 cards somehow. Iron Hands ex took 4 prizes from 2 attacks with the Amp You Very Much attack. To my surprise, he played a Future Energy Booster Capsule for the +20 damage against my Slither Wing.

My opponent having two prizes left compared to me at 6 prizes is very bad for me. I end up losing. It was too much for me to comeback from. I actually don't mind losing to him. This local tournament was low stakes anyways.
Post Tournament, Prizes
I end up at 2 wins and 1 loss. With the prizes I was supposed to get 2 Prize Pack Series 7 but everyone here got double. The organizer wanted to clear out the inventory and it was the Holiday season.
