Hi there. I have another food post here.
On New Year's Eve, the family and I have Chinese dimsum lunch. The New Year's Day would be super busy to dine out. New Year's Eve lunch seemed better.
Zunyan Fine Dining Restaurant In Scarborough Part Of Toronto, Canada
Zunyan Fine Dining Restaurant is located in the Scarborough northeast part of Toronto. It is far away from the downtown Toronto area where you have the mall, CN Tower, Ripley's Aquarium and Scotiabank Area for concerts and sports.
This Zunyan restaurant was a recommendation from parents who have visited this place. I did have dinner here before but did not blog about it. It was good.
We arrived at around 11:30 AM. There were a fair bit of people waiting in line. Despite the slight busyness, the wait time was not too bad. It was around 10 minutes and it was just two tables ahead of us. The wait system is based on number. You arrive, ask for a table at the front, you get a number and wait until called up.

The restaurant also has private dining rooms. I don't know the full details about booking a private room and if there is a service charge.

Dimsum Food & Pictures
At first, I thought there was cart service dimsum. It turns out that you order your food from the menu and some of the items come to you by cart. The menu offerings for lunch include dimsum small dishes, or larger dishes that come in big plates. Pricing differs by size, type of food and dish.
Here is one page of their dimsum menu.

The restaurant also set combo meals and some ready made dishes from a few staff coming around.
BBQ Pork

This was the first dish we had. We got this as soon as we finished our order. It was ready made and we did not want to wait too long to eat. The taste was okay but it was a little cold.
Stir Fry Rice Noodles (Ho-Fun) & Crispy Cantonese Chow Mein

We kind of overdone with these two noodle dishes. One of the two was enough along with the other dimsum dishes we ordered.
Braised Pig Trotters

This is not my favourite dish but I do have some of it. There is a tealight candle underneath to keep this dish warm.
Pig Blood Curd/Blood Tofu

This dish is not for everyone. I have this every once in a while. This time I did not eat this as there were other dishes I wanted.
Pan Fried Turnip Cake

Originally, there were 3 pieces. I took the picture when there were two after I ate one piece.
Siu Mai Pork Dumplings & Har Gau Shrimp Dumplings

These dumplings are pretty big in size. Above average size dumplings and they taste good.
Squid Tentacles

The dish on the menu says fried squid tentacles. It is more steamed than fried. It might have been fried first then steamed. Taste, chewiness and texture still good.
Fried Shrimp With Red Rice Roll Wrapping

This is one of my new favourite dimsum dishes. There is shrimp filling inside surrounded by a red rice roll wrapper.
My one complaint about this is that the pieces are not even. The cutting was not even.
Closing Notes
The food here overall was good. These Siu Mai and Har Gau dumplings don't disappoint as they are larger than the average dumplings.
We did overorder. The leftovers were packed for future meals.

Service can be a miss at times as some of the staff miss plates to be picked up. There is one female staff that kind of stands out. Jia Jia has a bit of that hustle energy in her. My dad gave a cash tip to her.
Rating: 8 out of 10
For a large and busy restaurant, the wait time was not too bad at around 11:30AM. The food was good and the service was good for the most part. Prices are similar to most of the other places. (Dimsum prices have gone up over the last five years in Toronto area.)
I see again why my parents do like this place and why they recommend it.
