For my first post I want to explain my view of ridding myself of beliefs. Because you can't spell belief without lie.
After freeing my mind from the Religion I was born into I stopped believing in anything. Because you either know something or you don't. And you only know what you have personally experienced or have empirical proof of. Everything else is just a varying degree of possibility. Either probable or improbable. Likely or unlikely, highly probable or highly improbable.
Most of what people "believe" is just someone else's opinion. And people will believe what they wish or hope to be true. Regardless of facts. i.e. Religion.
When I tell people I don't believe in anything, they can't grasp the concept. It's too foreign to them because they have been conditioned their entire life to believe what they are told. But not believing anything is actually very liberating. Because I can adjust what I consider to be probable or improbable according to the information received. I don't have to be locked into one set of ideas. I can question everything. And if you are not questioning everything you hear you are choosing ignorance. And in an age of information, ignorance IS a choice.
