Good evening to all Hivers friends and welcome back to my Blog.
Today I will bring you to discover a special place, located in the Italian capital: Rome. I’m talking about the Zoology Museum, an extraordinary place where science and nature meet.
I was lucky enough to visit this museum during a recent trip to the capital and I was very impressed by its beauty. The museum has a heritage of over 5 million preserved specimens, and the visit lasts at least a couple of hours to be able to observe them all at their best!

Oggi vi porto a scoprire un posto speciale, situato nella capitale italiana: Roma. Sto parlando del Museo Civico di Zoologia, un luogo straordinario dove scienza e natura si incontrano.
Ho avuto la fortuna di visitare questo museo durante una recente gita nella capitale e sono rimasta molto colpita dalla sua bellezza. Il museo possiede un patrimonio di oltre 5 milioni di esemplari conservati, e la visita dura almeno un paio d’ore per poterli osservare tutti al meglio!
The collections represent all the main families of biology: they range from molluscs of a few millimeters, up to the 16-meter fin whale. The aspect that fascinated me the most is precisely the variety of specimens present, some decidedly rare and some even extinct.
But how did the museum collect this enormous heritage? Mainly these are donations from private collectors, from the University and from the Vatican.
Le collezioni rappresentano tutte le principali famiglie della biologia: si va dai molluschi di pochi millimetri, fino alla balenottera di 16 metri. L’aspetto che mi ha affascinato di più è proprio la varietà di esemplari presenti, alcuni decisamente rari e alcuni addirittura estinti.
Ma come ha fatto il museo a raccogliere questo enorme patrimonio? Principalmente si tratta di donazioni da parte di privati collezionisti, dall’Università e dal Vaticano.
The biodiversity described in the corridors of the zoological museum of Rome has remained in my heart. Some interesting areas are, for example, those that narrate the evolution of man and other mammals, reptiles and birds.
At the end of the visit, there is also a room dedicated to skeletons, with some sensory tools where you can understand the different animal forms in proportion to your own.
La biodiversità raccontata nei corridoi del museo zoologico di Roma mi è rimasta nel cuore. Alcune aree interessanti sono, per esempio, quelle che narrano l’evoluzione dell’uomo e degli altri mammiferi, i rettili e gli uccelli.
Al termine della visita, c’è anche una sala dedicata agli scheletri, con alcuni strumenti sensoriali dove si possono capire le diverse forme animali in proporzione alla propria.
Usually, this museum is overlooked during tourist visits of the city of Rome, because the naturalistic aspect falls into the background compared to the classical architectural beauties of the city. However, I assure you that it is a very interesting museum for adults and children.
The price is also interesting, because there are numerous discounts and on some days it is free. So you have no excuses to miss this museum on your next trip to Rome! Thanks for reading me.

Solitamente questo museo viene tralasciato durante le visite turistiche della città di Roma, perché l’aspetto naturalistico cade in secondo piano rispetto alle bellezze architettoniche classiche della città. Tuttavia, vi assicuro che è un museo molto interessante per adulti e bambini.
Anche il prezzo è interessante, perché ci sono numerosi sconti e in alcune giornate è gratis. Quindi non hai scuse per perderti questo museo nella tua prossima gita a Roma! Grazie per avermi letto.
