I've been meaning to do this for far too long. I signed up ages ago so I didn't get stuck with the username deanbrown22222_thesecond or something similar and never got around to it.
My name is Dean. I'm a programmer and a blockchain enthusiast. I'm mostly interested in Ethereum for it's ability to power blockchain applications and bitcoin because at least for the moment it seems the most likely decentralized digital currency to see mass adoption by the general public.
I've been programming since I was about 18 or 19 I think. I mostly code in python (django for websites) and java. More recently I've taught myself nodejs and react and I'm a massive fan of javascript now. I've also taught myself solidity.
I'm building a dapp or decentralized application called ethertorrent (https://ethertorrent.com) on the ethereum blockchain. It's an application that allows users to upload any kind of content: text, video, image, music and it creates a torrent from it and stores it in the blockchain. It also has a cryptocurrency reward system similar to steemit. With the increasing censorship, demonetization and privacy concerns of traditional social media site such as Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and now the new Patreon debacle, I'm hoping it will be of use to people.
I don't mind people harassing me on the internet but I'd rather not get harassed AFK, so I probably won't post pictures.
I'll probably use this account to post some programming tutorials, my thoughts on the state of crypto, updates on my dapp, of which there will be a demo available soon, and maybe some political stuff. I've become more interested in politics as I've gotten a little older. I'm definitely going to try to be more active on here anyway.
Thanks for reading.
