I've been knitting this bikini for a long time, I think since the trip to the Hotel de Jibacoa. The thing is that I had left it lying around until today when I decided to finish it. Summer is almost here and I'm ready to wear it on vacation.
It gives me great pleasure to see these crochet pieces finished. Whenever I start any of them I am a little afraid of the result because I am not very skilled in the matter and I have a feeling that they may look bad, but it is not like that at the end of the day.
I am filled with memories of my first steps in knitting and I remember the lady who taught me. Ofelia was her name, and she lived right in front of my house. I remember that in the afternoons she used to change the doorway and we used to knit together. Back then I didn't do it as well as I do today. She passed away and didn't get to see in her lifetime the things she managed to do with the beautiful legacy she left me. I would like to think she sees it from somewhere.
Hace tiempo que estoy tejiendo este bikini, creo que desde el viaje al Hotel de Jibacoa. El tema es que lo había dejado tirado hasta hoy que me propuse terminarlo. Ya casi se acerca el verano y estoy dispuesta a usarlo estas vacaciones.
Me da un placer enorme ver estas piezas de tejido a crochet terminadas. Siempre que empiezo alguna me da un poco de miedo el resultado pues no estoy muy ducha en el asunto y presiento que pueden quedar mal, pero no es así al final de todo.
Me llenan de recuerdos de mis primeros pasos en el tejido y a mi memoria vine la señora que me enseñó. Ofelia se llamaba, y vivía justo en frente de mi casa. Recuerdo que en las tardes solía cambiar de portal y tejíamos juntas. En aquel entonces no lo hacía tan bien como hoy. Ella falleció y no pudo ver en vida las cosas que logro hacer con el legado hermoso que me dejó. Me gustaría pensar que lo ve desde algún lugar.
