I've been struggling for several weeks with a problem in my car that I can't seem to fix. After using the car for a while, and after turning it off and on several times, there comes a point when it won't accelerate; the engine starts, but when I press the accelerator pedal, nothing happens. This issue has cost me many long hours on the street, often with my whole family, trying to figure it out, and among the many things I've tried, one of them is the brake pedal sensor.

Llevo varias semanas luchando con una falla en mi carro que no logro solucionar. Luego de usar el carro por un rato, tras apagarlo y encenderlo varias veces, llega un momento en que no acelera, enciende el motor pero al pisar el pedal del acelerador no hace nada. Esta falla me costó largas horas en la calle, muchas veces con toda mi familia, tratando de resolver y entre las tantas cosas que he probado, una de ellas es el sensor del pedal de freno.
I should first clarify that I still haven't solved the problem, but as I try some things, I'll keep you updated until I finally find the solution. The first few times this happened to me, I thought it was the immobilizer, which has an antenna connected to the ignition so that it only starts with the car's programmed key. However, over time I realized that wasn't the cause, since with an immobilizer, the computer only blocks the injectors so they don't supply gasoline to the cylinders.
Debo aclarar primero que aun no soluciono el problema, pero a medida que intenté algunas cosas les ire contando, hasta que finalmente dé con la solución. Las primeras veces cuando me ocurría, pensaba que se trataba del inmovilizador, el cual tiene conectada una antena en el encendido, para que solo encienda con la llave programada del carro, pero con el tiempo note que no era la causa, ya que por inmovilizador el computador solo bloquea los inyectores para que no surtan gasolina a los cilindros.
In my search for a solution, I decided to check the brake pedal sensor because I read in a mechanics forum that it could be one of the causes. According to some mechanics, this sensor not only works to turn the rear brake lights on and off, but it also now communicates with the computer so that it sends a signal that decelerates the vehicle. But honestly, I followed the sensor's wires as far as I could and didn't see any evidence of that, nor did it seem very logical to me.
En mi búsqueda de una solución, decidí revisar el sensor del pedal del freno, porque lei en un foro de mecánicos que podría ser una de las causas, ya que según algunos mecánicos, este sensor no solo funciona para encender y apagar las luces trasera que indican frenado, también ahora tiene comunicación con el computador para que este envíe una señal que desacelera el vehículo, pero la verdad, segui los cables del sensor hasta donde pude y no constate que así fuera, tampoco me parecía muy lógico.
But something unexpected happened. As soon as I touched the sensor to remove the wire connector, one of the parts came off in my hand, leaving the platinum that makes internal contact exposed. That's how I realized that one of the contacts works in a normally open condition, and the other is for power supply, so it's only for turning the brake lights on and off.
Pero ocurrió algo inesperado, apenas toque el sensor para retirar el conector del cable, quedó en mi mano una de las partes, quedando fuera en platino que hace contacto interno. Fue así como me di cuenta que funciona en condición de normalmente abierto uno de los contactos y el otros es de alimentación, por lo tanto es solamente para encender y apagar las luces de frenado.
I bought a new one anyway; it only cost $7 USD, and I installed it. Something that should have been simple turned out to be a nightmare for me because of the limited space the car has under the dashboard. I practically have to contort myself to reach any part in that area, but after a while, I was able to remove the part that was stuck on the pedal and screw in the new sensor. The problem still persists, but I hope to bring you an update soon on any progress I make.
Igualmente lo compre nuevo, solo cuenta $7USD y lo monte, algo que debería ser sencillo, pero que para mi resulta una pesadilla por el poco espacio que el carro tiene debajo del tablero, tengo que casi contorsionarme para poder alcanzar cualquier parte en esa zona, pero después de un rato puede quitar la parte que quedó en el pedal y enroscar el nuevo sensor. Aun la falla persiste pero espero pronto traerles actualizacion de algun avance al respecto.
