Today, our family day began with a lovely gesture. Arriving at school early, at 7 a.m., the teachers had organized a small celebration for the women, in commemoration of International Women's Day. They handed out some presents, some made by the children and others by the teachers from each classroom. They didn't intend to take up much of the mothers' time, they just wanted to show with this gesture that they were thinking of them.

Hoy nuestro dia como familia empezó con un bonito gesto, al llegar a la escuela temprano a las 7 am, las maestras habían organizado un pequeño agasajo para las mujeres, en conmemoración al día internacional de la mujer. Entregaron algunos presentes, hechos junto a los niños y otros hechos por las maestras de cada salón. No pretendían quitar mucho tiempo a las madres de los niños, solo querían demostrar con este gesto que les tiene presentes.
This gesture moved me deeply. Seeing my daughter give my wife these simple presents made me reflect more on what women represent in my life, how important they are to me, and what I can do as a man to always support them and defend their rights, which are still not fully respected. publicaba sobre una animacion que realice en tipografia cinetica, buscando resaltar uno de sus atributos mas especiales y lo que siento por ellas.
Learning more about the history of why March 8th is International Women's Day has been very interesting. What I always believed was that this day was decreed thanks to the struggle that some women began to exercise labor rights and equal conditions, but the reality is that it's a culmination of events, all of great relevance, that defined this day, which puts it into perspective – it's not a global holiday, it's a day to pay tribute and honor to those who fought even to give their lives.

Lo que siempre creí, es que se decretó este día, gracias a la lucha que algunas mujeres comenzaron, para ejercer derechos laborales, e igualdad de condiciones, pero la realidad es que se trata de un cúmulo de acontecimientos, todos de mucha relevancia que definieron este dia, que te pone en perspectiva, no es un día de fiesta mundial, es un día para rendir tributo y honor a quienes lucharon incluso hasta dar sus vidas.
The date to commemorate International Women's Day changed over the years. It was finally decreed on March 8th, due to the great sacrifice that millions of Russian women made to demand peace in the midst of the First World War and to end the famine that plagued them. The Russian Tsar, in response, ordered the masses to be annihilated, but this resulted in many more people from the country joining them in a large protest that ended up overthrowing the Tsar, giving way to a system of government that recognized women's suffrage. These protests began on March 8th.
La fecha para conmemorar el dia internacional de la mujer cambió con los años. Finalmente fue decretado el 8 de marzo, debido al gran sacrificio que millones de mujeres rusas hicieron para exigir paz en medio de la primera guerra mundial, y acabar con la hambruna que los azotaba. El zar ruso en respuesta mandó aniquilar a las masas, pero resultó en que muchas mas personas del pais se le unieran en una gran protesta que acabó derrocando al zar, dando paso a un sistema de gobierno que reconoció el voto de la mujer, estas protestas iniciaron el 8 de marzo.
Knowing this, how can we not commemorate this day? I feel deep respect and admiration for what these women did throughout history. It seemed appropriate to make it clear to my little daughter that it's not a holiday, it's a day of great solemnity and deep respect. That she understands that thanks to the struggle of many women in history, she can enjoy many benefits today. What we experienced this morning at school is a symbol of how important women and their rights are today.
Sabiendo esto ¿Cómo no conmemorar este día? Siento profundo respeto y admiración por lo que hicieron estas mujeres a lo largo de la historia. Me pareció pertinente dejarle en claro a mi pequeña hija que no es un día de fiesta, es un dia de mucha solemnidad y de profundo respeto. Que ella entienda que gracias a la lucha de muchas mujeres en la historia, ella puede gozar de muchos beneficios el dia de hoy. Que lo vivido este mañana en el colegio es un símbolo de lo importante que son las mujeres y sus derechos en la actualidad.
