Does it make you happy? Savings tips

Hallo Hivers. I thought about what I have done in the past few years to come to a point where I have a 6 month emergency fund, incase I get fired from my job or decides to quit and there have been a few ideas helping me with this!

  1. Automatically save money.
I have set a amount of money I set aside every single month into my savings account, but not manually. It have been done automatically for the past 2 years which mean I don't see the money and therefore I don't "lose" them or "need" them.
Its just building a emergency fund for me slowly!

  2. Don't buy stuff you don't need.
I think we should revaluate our money purchases on a regular basis, this can be done every 3 months or even every month if needed.
A lot of human just buy stuff often which wont be valuable for them 3 months down the road and thats a waste of money in my eyes.
So a good tip is to be really conscious about what you buy and what its used for and if it will be valuable for you long term or if you are seeing a pattern!

  3. Fuck subscriptions!
Subscriptions are so amazing for companies! Either because its quite "cheap" or because people forget about their subscriptions and its free money for thr companies.
Unless its something you really commit to or use often, I don't think its a good idea to have subscriptons and I limit them as much as I can.

E.g. I don't pay of Netflix or anything close to that on a month basis. What I do if there is something I want to see on Netflix is that I buy it for 1 month, cancel immediately afterwards and then I just bringe Netflix for that month and watch everything I want to watch before my month runs out.
I do this 1-2 times a year, so I save like 100$ which can be invested instead ^^
I do this with as many things as I can. The only thing I pay for monthly is Spotify! I use Spotify everyday and every night, so thats 100% worth it for me.

Some people also ask questions such as "Will this bring me happiness" and questions like this can have a big impact on how you view and valuable things and make you save a lot of money.

Sometimes you have to rephrase the question depending on if its long term or short term.

I will leave you with this, spending money on what you love isn't a problem or shouldn't be a problem regardless of the price tag. As long as it keeps you happy then its 100% worth it.

Spend extravagantly on the things you love, and cut costs mercilessly on the things you don’t. - Ramit Sethi
