A MOTHER

I saw a woman gushing blood
In the open street
Pleading for her life to be over.

Her belly was large
With a still baby in between her legs.
She never wanted a child
So, she gave it to vultures.

Then I went to the orphanage
Saw the unwanted ones
Those deserted by their own mothers
Cursed from birth and abandoned.

Strange families lined up to adopt
Few are punished by fate
And the lucky ones are thrown into unknown homes.
Some are abused and deleted
Others celebrated by chance.

They know no love
No house to call a home
And their future; a tale of tales...

Now, who do you call a mother?
One that gave her child to vulture
One that gave life and flew
Or one denied by fate but adopted the unwanted ones;
You be the judge.
