Beyond the circle of light, the end of the world lies. The adventurer is tired.
The only light comes from the fire in front of him. He has walked for days, just trying to survive against monsters and strange creatures. He is almost out of food.
The adventurer takes a stand as he sees a large black cat step on his food looking for a tasty morsel. He stabs it in the neck as others watch.
The adventurer continues through the darkness. He flares his light in order to see the creatures that try to attack.
He slashes at an arm as it snakes out at him, only to discover he is the target of the monster itself. The cat, hungry for blood, bites off the creature's arm and lights its current meal.
The sound of the beast's blood dripping on the stone sends chills down his spine. He picks up his sword to cut off the head, but finds that it is too heavy for him to lift.
Suddenly, the adventurer feels a sharp pain on his hand as his hand glows red. He fumbles with the sword and cuts off his own arm. The monster before him is caught in the crossfire.
The adventurer raises his sword and puts the creature to rest with one final blow.
He looks his severed hand in horror. He must now survive on his own.
He begins to walk again and soon remembers that the crystal taken from his village was in the pocket of his coat. He quickly recovers the key and gives himself the gift to open doors.
At the top of a hill, he sees a wide open road. He can't believe it at first, but he urges himself to take a peek. The light reflects of the moon, illuminating a once magnificent city of stone.
He steals a small bag of supplies, and makes his way to the main gate. He gives the guard 20 gold and a coin before heading off into the city.
He believes if he is lucky, someone may have seen him from the small window in their rooms. His has a plan, but he sure is going to need a little help.
The adventurer enters a tavern full of the typical hooligans, any adventurer's worst enemy. He asks for a meal and a drink. The barkeep rushes over and notices how dirty he is from the dirt and blood.
"I am sorry, but a minimum charge is needed in order for you to be served in our establishment," he says.
"What do you mean? Just a day ago I was served this dining experience for free. We all know the old man that was buried in the ground here, and it was his favorite dish! Why should I be charged?" he asks.
"Look, young chap, I am tired of this argument. The minimum charge is 10 gold a year, and that is not negotiable," the barkeep replies.
"Okay, you've got it!" the adventurer says as he empties his pockets.
"What do you mean by that? I was just joking!" the barkeep replies.
"Are you going to make me pay, or are you going to sulk? I need a drink, good sir!" the adventurer says.
"Here is your drink, and you may eat, but that's it for now, or you are going to have to pay for your stay here at the inn," the barkeep says.
The adventurer grunts, downs the glass in one gulp, and walks out the door.
The adventurer asks a few people for advice, but keeps getting the same answer.
He spots two people he knows from his past. The adventurer says, "Hi, guys. You know what? Why don't we go look around?" He continues down the street and they come to his request as they agree.
The adventurer and his friends head down a road to where they found the crystal. It is still there, but the trio is surprised to find that the carvings on the sides have a new meaning. The adventurer read the writing on the side: "The end of the world lies beyond the circle of light. To open the gate and save the world, you must be crowned a king as well as a great archer."
The three walk up to the gate and wonder how to accomplish this task. The sound of a sword raises above their heads again. They spin around to see their friend from the city behind the gate.
"What are you doing here?" the adventurer asks.
"Maybe you can ask me that question! What are YOU doing here? I think I deserve that same answer," the city-walker replies.
"Ok, fine, we found a path to help us save the world, but how do we accomplish this feat?" the adventurer asks.
"You need to make a trip to a holy sanctuary, get crowned king, and open the gate to kingdom hall," the city-walker tells them.
"You know I am no king, but I am an archer, so I will do that. Why not you?" the adventurer asks.
"Because I am the king!" the city-walker replies.
The three head off to the kingdom to be crowned. No one will let them in, but they find out that it is mostly because of the king. No one can stay there without him. The king lives on top of the highest tower in the city.
On a long journey ahead of them, they find out that they will be spending 3 months in the wilderness.
The adventurer and the city-walker stop at an abandoned church in the middle of the woods where they see a very old man. He offers them some food and supplies but agrees to help them if they go back to the church the next day.
The next morning the two return to the church to finish their attempt to save the world. They go up the stairs but can't find anyone.
