Today I wanted to appreciate the fact that our company migration is done!

We have fully migrated!

A few weeks ago I wrote about the situation that I was undergoing. My team was getting shifted (aka sold) to another organization. Thankfully my team brings in pretty good value, so we were certainly going to be still going in the future afterwards, but it was a pretty uncertain and chaotic time. Not only was it that, but the fact that the place we were being removed from offered NO assistance for migrating everything we needed to bring it to our new location. Holy shit that was a big middle finger to us!

That is one of the things that I really dislike about big companies. Not that this was the biggest company in the world, but it was a good size. They get an ego to them, where they feel that they are so big that they can just fuck over the small people. What are you gonna do? Complain? Have fun with that sunshine.

A few of the people that are coming with are upset about changes to benefits and other things like that, but I think they are a little bit of a spoiled kid, where they should feel lucky they even have a job, honestly but that's a different discussion.

We had a few weeks to save everything and get it migrated. It was a freaking DAUNTING task that's for sure!! One of the good things is that we've got a really great group and everyone was helping each other. We all learned things, wrote down a bunch of tips and notes and were all making sure each other was covered. There was a really inspiring feeling to it all, and I think that's one of the things I am excited and looking forward to in the future: working with a fantastic team!

I've been really lucky in that I've had some really great people that I work with over the years. I've had my fair share of crappy colleagues but this one is really at the top of the list for great groups. We are all cohesive, help each other, don't bicker and get along really well. I for sure feel spoiled! I know that this will eventually change, and it already has in a way because not all of the people we worked with on the previous team had come over, so it was for sure bittersweet in that regard.

I think the most important thing is that the cut over is done, a lot of the stuff is migrated and we are on the other side as our own team which is a relief. There are for sure going to be some bumps in the road, but for the most part this is going to be a really amazing time. The migrating of all of our stuff was really intense and chaotic, but it was one of those times where you can do a little bit of housecleaning. You end up saying quite often "do I really need this?" Nope, I don't! Toss! That was great, because a lot of shit was gotten rid of. Many of us deleted tens of thousands of emails haha.
