As suggested by the above picture of the United Kingdom's Houses of Parliament I am based in the UK. I am a writer on political and social issues, mainly from a UK perspective but sometimes I write about issues further afield as well. I am very keen to make contact with other UK based people on Steemit who are also interested in political and social issues.
I actually joined in November last year but I haven't been very active here till now. One of the reasons for this was that I was very busy, but another reason was that I began to read some negative commentary about the Steem project. In a nutshell, certain people were saying that Dan Larimer is a scam artist and that the Steem currency was a Ponzi scheme. I started to listen to a lot of commentary on the subject, and I eventually reached the conclusion that the claims were incorrect (although admittedly I have only a very basic understanding of the technology). Having reached this conclusion I now intend to dive in and get involved regularly in the Steemit community. I am very interested in this platform, I think the reward system is revolutionary and could open up all kinds of possibilities for how we communicate in the internet age.
