Dreams

When we sleep, at a certain stage dreams occurs involuntarily as a succession of images, ideas, emotions, and sensation. The message most dreams conveys are misunderstood, though it has taken under scientific analysis and some religious reviews, as well as a subject continuously discussed in philosophy throughout history. The interpretations of dreams is the attempt at trying to draw meaning from ones dreams, searching for a message hidden beneath the surface. The study of dreams scientifically is called "ONEIROLOGY."

When Does it Start?

Dreams occurs around when the body experiences the "Rapid-Eye Movement" (REM), a stage when the brain activity is high and the brain makes it appears like its awake. During this period of sleep the REM sleep takes place by the eye moving continuously like it were awake causing the REM sleep. Most times dreams does not necessarily take place during the REM sleep, ass it sometimes happen outside time period during other time period during sleep, which are not very clear and memorable.

How long does it Last?

The length of dreams vary; some may last only few seconds, and some roughly twenty (20) to Thirty (30) minutes. Dreams that most people have and are awakened from during the REM phase will more likely be remembered by the individual. And it can be said that an average person have about three (3) to five (5) dreams every night, while some have as much as seven dreams some nights. most dreams are instantaneous and are quickly forgotten. Dreams tends to last longer with the progression of the night, most occur during the two hours of the REM of the total 8 hours every night.

Interpreting Dreams

Ideas have varied with time and culture pertaining dreams meaning and interpretation. Several people have accepted the Freudian theory of Dreams - "that dreams reveal insight into Hidden desires and emotions." it is also recorded that dreams helps in the formation of memory and also in problem solving as people tend to believe that dreams are direct messages from the gods that helps predict the events of the future. Approximately 5000 years ago the first dream record was acquired from materials such as the clay tablet during the Mesopotania era. During the Greco-Roman time period, dreams were believed to be messages from the gods (a form of prophecy).

Sigmund Freud system created the psychological discipline of psychoanalysis, he wrote extensively about the theories and interpretations of dreams in the 1900s. He described dreams as ones deepest desires and anxieties. most of which he says are from ones childhood memories and obsessions.

Moreover, he believed that well-nigh each dream subject, despite its content, represented the release of sexual tension. Within the Interpretation of goals (1899), Freud developed a psychological procedure to interpret goals and devised a sequence of instructional materials to appreciate the symbols and motifs that appear in our dreams. In present day times, goals have been noticeable as a connection to the unconscious intellect. They variety from ordinary and common to overly surreal and weird. Dreams can have various natures, such as being scary, enjoyable, magical, melancholic, adventurous, or sexual. The routine in dreams are traditionally outside the manage of the dreamer, with the exception of lucid dreaming, where the dreamer is self-conscious.

Dreams can at times make a creative thought occur to the person or give a sense of inspiration.
