The kid in me has always fantasized about getting a bunch of people together to have a massive Nerf war, and today, it finally happened! I know there are places you can pay to have Nerf wars with others, but it's a lot more fun when it's with friends and family, and even better when it's free!
We started the morning off with brunch to celebrate my nephew's tenth birthday. We ate hearty knowing we'd work off all of the food. I had a slice of cheese and sausage quiche, a slice of candied bacon, a couple of pancakes, and a waffle with bourbon maple syrup. Yes, the syrup had real bourbon in it! 😁 I washed it all down with a mimosa, and we all proceeded to bring out an arsenal of Nerf guns.
This was just a small sample of what was left over. There were enough guns for everyone to have at least two and enough darts to keep our reload station busy.
Of course, my son had to have the biggest one. 😆
I had my turn with the big gun as well, but in the end, I favored mobility and accuracy over suppressing fire.
We had some barricades set up in addition to cover from the barn, playground, and trampoline.
Since I have quite a few real guns and have a good amount of hours logged practicing, it didn't take long to figure out the rough trajectory of each gun and be able to run and gun like a madman.
As soon as I had let a shot off, I tucked the gun into my armpit and switched to the next one to fire off another shot, then swapped back to reload the other one I just fired once I was behind cover.
Eventually, the kids holed up in the playground tower with as many guns as they could hoard. I think the kids were surprised I was sniping them from 50 yards away with a Nerf pistol, while their machineguns rarely tagged me because I was on the move or just out of range. 😆
In total, I think we easily spent 3-4 hours running around blasting each other. It was a lot of fun, and my boys are already talking about having more Nerf wars in the future. I can't wait! 😁
