Best regards, community brewery! I didn't want to miss the call for the #beersaturday challenge, an initiative by our esteemed @detlev, which is now in its 404th issue. It's the last days of March, and wow! The heat is already making itself felt. It's unpleasant when the dry season finally arrives in the tropics, and especially if you live in the Caribbean basin. Climate change is making the dry days longer, which means this season will last well into November. This is one of the reasons why drinking beer is so popular here in Venezuela; it helps us cool off and endure these hot days. In that context, I wanted to bring you a review of a beer that was a big surprise to me: Modelo beer.

I always meet up with my Discord friends on the last Saturday of every month for a sort of virtual beer party where we bring our beers and share our impressions. I take this opportunity to search for beers I haven't tried. In some cases, I've been disappointed, but in others, I've been pleasantly surprised, so it's an activity I quite enjoy. In this case, I bought several things, a Luxus beer that is literally heaven in this horrible heat but it is not for me, I brought this one to my mother who enjoys it a lot, I personally already wrote a review of it in Challenge N° 400. In this case I took a "leap of faith" buying the Modelo beer, unfortunately I could only get the 250 mL presentation and for the size it was quite expensive: $1.50 but there was still a good reason why I wanted to buy it.

Now, I was worried about the impression this beer would leave on me, mainly because I had already tried another Mexican beer: Corona, and it left me with the worst possible feeling. I think it deserved it because a Mexican professor colleague at university warned me about Corona's insipid taste and that the best thing I could do to enhance its flavor was to make a submarine with Whiskey, and that's what I ended up doing. That's why I had reservations about this Modelo brand. However, my leap of faith was due to the fact that this beer brand was founded in 1025, so this year marks the 100th anniversary of its creation, so I decided to give it a chance.

So I presented my beer to my friends on Discord. I was a little annoyed by the fact that I was the only one who brought beer, but I still toasted to this exceptional moment of camaraderie on a weekend. The martyrdom of the workday becomes more bearable when you share it with friends! I proceeded to pour the beer into my glass and it doesn't show in the photo but I had a William Lawson bottle in case this beer tasted similar to Corona😅.

Once I took the first sip, I realized that fortunately this beer lived up to the hype! 😆 Foamy, creamy, and refreshing, just what I wanted in a beer at that time of night, because even when the sun goes down, the feeling of heat tends to linger, so it was great to quell that nighttime heat with a good beer. There was no need to submerge the William Lawson, although I thought about it, but I wanted to fully savor the beer.

In short, I had an excellent Saturday night spending time with friends and enjoying the moment. For me, this beer gets a solid 8/10, although it doesn't reach the same level of quality as the Luxus, but it does its job of refreshing and providing a smooth flavor. I only regret not buying more, but as I mentioned, the impression Corona left on me meant I only took the risk of buying two cans. Un gran saludo comunidad cervecera! No quise dejar pasar el llamado al #beersaturday challenge, una iniciativa de nuestro estimado @detlev que se encuentra en su edición N° 404. Son los últimos días del mes de marzo y wow! El calor ya se esta haciendo sentir, es desagradable cuando finalmente llega la temporada seca en el trópico y sobre todo si vives en la cuenca del Caribe, el cambio climático esta haciendo que los días secos sean más largos y eso significa que esta temporada va a durar hasta bien entrado el mes de noviembre. Esta es una de las razones por la que tomar cerveza es tan popular aquí en Venezuela ayuda a refrescarnos y tolerar estos calurosos días y en ese contexto he querido traerte la reseña de una cerveza que fue una gran sorpresa para mi: la cerveza Modelo.

Siempre suelo reunirme con mis amigos de discord el último sábado de cada mes para realizar una especie de cervezada virtual donde llevamos nuestras cervezas y compartimos nuestras impresiones. Yo aprovecho esta oportunidad para hacer una búsqueda de cervezas que no he probado, en algunos casos me he llevado decepciones pero en otros gratas sorpresas por lo que es una actividad que disfruto bastante. En este caso, compré varias cosas, una cerveza Luxus que es literalmente el cielo con este calor tan horrible pero que no es para mi, esta se la traje a mi madre que la disfruta mucho, yo particularmente ya le hice una reseña en el Challenge N° 400. En este caso hice un "salto de fe" comprando la cerveza Modelo, lamentablemente solo pude conseguir la presentación de 250 mL y para el tamaño era bastante costosa: 1,5$ pero igual había una buena razón por la que quería comprarla.

Ahora bien, yo estaba preocupado por la impresión que me dejaría esta cerveza principalmente porque ya había probado otra cerveza mexicana: Corona y me dejó la peor sensación posible, creo que lo merecía pues un colega profesor de la universidad que es mexicano me advirtió del insípido sabor de Corona y que lo mejor que podía hacer para realzar su sabor era hacer un submarino con Whisky y fue lo que terminé haciendo, por eso mis resquemores con respecto a esta marca Modelo. Sin embargo mi salto de fe se debió a que esta marca de cerveza fue fundada en 1025 así que este año se cumple 1 siglo de su creación así que decidí darle una oportunidad.

Así le presenté mi cerveza a los compas del discord, me molestó un poco el hecho que yo fui el único que llevó cerveza pero igual brindé por este excepcional momento de camaradería un fin de semana, el martirio de la jornada laboral se hace más llevadero cuando compartes con amigos! Procedí a servir la cerveza en mi vaso y no aparece en la foto pero tenía una botella de William Lawson en caso de que esta cerveza tuviera un sabor similar a Corona😅.

Una vez que di el primer sorbo pude notar que afortunadamente esta cerveza si estaba a la altura de las circunstancias!😆 Espumosa, cremosa y refrescante, justo lo que deseaba en una cerveza a esa hora de la noche, porque incluso cuando baja el sol la sensación del calor tiende a perpetuarse por lo que fue genial aplacar ese calor nocturno con una buena cerveza. No hubo necesidad de hacer el submarino con el William Lawson aunque lo pensé pero deseaba saborear por completo la cerveza.

En resumen, pase un sábado por la noche excelente compartiendo con amigos y disfrutando el momento. Para mi esta cerveza tiene un sólido 8/10 aunque no llega a las cotas de calidad que tiene la Luxus, pero si cumple con la función de refrescar y tener un sabor suave. Solo lamento no haber comprado más pero como les comenté la impresión que me dejó Corona hizo que solo me arriesgara comprando solo 2 latas.
