Dealing with depression

Depression is a period of unhappiness or low morale which lasts longer than several weeks and may include ideation of self-inflicted injury or suicide. Overcoming depression isn't an impossible task. The trick to overcoming depression is to start small, as you can't just will yourself to snap out of it.

Depression could result from financial difficulties, death of a loved one, unemployment, heartbreak, loneliness. When depressed there is the tendency to isolate and withdraw oneself from the world and all social activities
Reaching out to family members and friends is one of the steps towards overcoming depression. You may feel like a burden towards them but that's just the depression talking.
Building up a new friendship network, caring for pets, joining a support group for depression, doing things that make you feel good(in a positive way), using relaxation tactics and staying connected both with family and friends and the society are steps one could take when trying to deal with depression.
