I'm a (moderate) admirer of the past and think a lot about the future, only the near future (lately).
The past cannot be changed, and the future is uncertain.
I've noticed, with surprise, that I think more about the past and the future and less about the present, about the life that is happening and that I could still change.
This means that I am not satisfied with the present, although, apart from a few minor problems (old age, health, ha, ha...), I am doing quite well in this (these) year(s) of life that I have left to live.
To be more precise about what I mean, I noticed this...
Every season, I think nostalgically about the past and look forward to the future. Especially in winter!
I like winter, but I think it's in last place in the ranking of seasons, for me, of course. I'm already dreaming of summer vacation when winter is just starting, which I look forward to as a relief.
Fortunately, and especially at an older age, time passes very quickly. Winter is already long gone, and I'm close to my first trip to the sea this year.
Instead of looking forward to the future and a hopefully wonderful vacation, as I always hope it will be, and as it doesn't happen, I woke up today thinking about the winter that has passed...
A winter that came late and left quickly, as it has been happening for many years, is a sign that something has changed with the earth's climate, even if some important and influential people do not want to admit it.
Winter came late in Bucharest, Romania.
Although the plants thought winter would never come, they were surprised...

I don't know why, maybe it's just a misconception, but the first snow comes at night. In the morning, I discover winter has taken hold in my little yard.

The first snow is often abundant but short-lived. In a few days, it melts. During the day, it is warmer, but at night, the low temperatures help the water from the melting snow turn into ice, which will melt the next day.

#
This repeated freeze-thaw process forms some pretty photogenic ice patches. Here are some examples:

Look closely, it looks like a crystal.

Each season has its unique beauty and its good and less good parts. I am glad that the nostalgic chill of the winter days made me remember these images, before I blinked my eyes with the blue image of the sea.
End of December, 2019...
Christmas Eve!

How time flies, it's already been six years!

I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that turn into words. When I post on Photography Lovers, the words have even less importance; they are a companion to the photos I want to show. This often makes the story uninteresting, yet it is necessary; otherwise, the photos would merely be a series of ordinary images.I make this statement as a plea to those reading not to overjudge the text and to focus on the photos.
A wise saying goes that a photograph is worth a thousand words, but I'm not so sure.
Everything depends on the beholder.
