Boring Background
I'm Blingit. An Aussie SAHM who spends my life at the ballet studio with my kids and in my spare time i paint.
I can be a bit on and off again with my art, fits of activity where i finish more paintings in a week that i do in 5 months at other times.
I had a hand injury 2 years ago that damaged the nerves in my painting hand. Its been a slow road and i think we are as good as we are going to get. It doesnt stop me painting, but it sure slows me down.
As a rule i have been painting Daily Paintings. They keep my hand in and also stop my anxiety over not being good enough. i have a time limit and thats it. if it doesnt work, i learn something and move on. - now onto todays blog...
Today's Painting is
Today's painting is a little city skyline focusing on a "fuck yeah" sunset. (i like sunsets)
Ground: Canvas Panel tiny 5x7 inches
Paint: acrylic
Colours: basic as, cool and warm yellow and a cool and warm red. white black
Time: super fast this was totally sub 1 hour in fact i recon it was an hour from getting paints out of tubes and packing up.
How i got this effect so fast.
so this is super easy. basically i painting 100% of the canvas with the sky. like the entire thing.
Then when i put in the city, i put in the denser more shadow sides of the building is thick black paint.
Then in some areas, like the flatter areas of streets, and some sides of the building, i sort of washed over the colour a tad. leaving some of the colour to show through.
a final go over with pure black (ok i might have added a touch, and i mean a touch, of red into it to sort of tint the black a tiny bit)
then a quick, lets add in some more highlights of where the sun is hitting and i was too generous with the black
throw in a couple of white/yellow street lights and ... booo...ya... painting done. :-)
AROUND THE STUDIO
so as that is a tad brief , the whole thing was so easy... thought i might do some selfies around the studio while its super clean!!!
What am i working on
I'm still a bit thin on painting time. the kids have gone back to school last week HUZZAHHH
but im catching up on everything that i need to do. so its a bit shit. so been a bit tight getting into the headspace for painting.
however i am working on this overpainting (there is a photo underneath) TOTALLY NOT CHEATING FOLKS lol... and then the baby seascape which has just had washes for shapes and there is no tones in there at all...
i want to get these all finished next, that and the big kookaburras cos they are CUTE.

as you can see the mini sea scape is about 10 min in? like seriously just doing a wash to see where the shapes need to go.
These these are the overpainted photos. totally needs another layer as it looks too photo like (i'll need to be less photo realistic with my paint...) lol... as you can see i felt it needed balance and i added in the distant mountain line, again, a thin wash to check placement, and i like it, working on adding some rocks in the front of the paiting as well as i have not really done the beach on the right hand side. Left i did a bit, but not the right.
VERY happy with the big tree branch up close it looks AWESOME!!
ANYWAY THAT IS THE STUDIO UPDATE for the day.
hope you enjoyed it and happy painting.
