Bitcoin will not store your data forever

By @bitcoinsofia8/8/2018bitcoinsofia

I am a Bitcoin Cash supporter and the organizer of the Bitcoin Cash Meetup in Sofia, Bulgaria.

In this video I will try to break the illusion some people seem to have about the Bitcoin blockchain being a permanent storage space. It is not!

A good storage has 3 requirements.

  • you should be able to write data
  • the written data should stay the same as time passes
  • you should be able to read the data from the storage

Bitcoin provides the first 1 at an expensive price.

The second one is guaranteed by the protocol.

The third one is not guaranteed at all.
Most likely the user will end up storing the blockchain on their own hard disk.... so.... why not use their hard disk in the first place??
