Hello everyone
Greetings to you all on this beautiful day in this great community, thank God it's Friday and I hope you are all doing great, on this beautiful day, I will be sharing with you the cutting and sewing process of this simple gown outfit I made for my neighbor's step daughter.
Mrs Moses step daughter came to visit her dad who is my neighbor and when she came, she only bought few casual clothes for her stay, luckily enough for them, I'm always here to make quick and urgent outfit if need be, so I was asked if I could make a simple outfit for the little girl for church service, then I offered to make the outfit. Mrs Moses went in and brought out a fabric which was left over from the outfit she made sometimes ago which was not up to 2 yards, after taking the little girl's bodice measurement, I started the cutting process
The fabric was folded in 2 to cut out the lower part of the gown which will be having a half cut sewn to it, I cut out the front bodice using her bodice measurement I took to below the knee length.
The front was placed on another folded fabric and it was used to cut out the back part with zipper allowance added to the center back, I cut out same shape of lining and it was used to turn it inside out just as I did with the front
I sew in the dark for the front and back before it was sewn together and set aside.
After the lower part of the dress has been made and set aside, the remaining fabric was used to cut out a basic block pattern for the front and back upper bodice using the little girl's upper bodice measurement with lining to turn it inside out for neat finishing
The back was cut out with zipper allowance at the back as well
The front and back were sewn separately with lining before it was sewn together and I have the upper bodice ready as well
The upper bodice was sewn to the lower part of the dress with the zipper sewn to the zipper allowance at the back.
Unfortunately, I had exhausted the fabric I was given after the cutting of the full bodice, now I'm left with the sleeves.
For the sleeves, I had a left over black lace fabric and luckily enough, I used it to cut out a basic sleeves with a long piece from the main fabric to pipe the hem
It was sewn together with the long piece sewn to the hem
Finally, the sleeves were sewn to the armhole circumference of the dress and I have the outfit looking so simple and beautiful
Now my neighbor's step daughter have an outfit ready for Sunday service, her parents were so glad I could make a beautiful outfit from the left over pieces of fabric I was given.
Join me in my next post for beautiful creativity
