Hello beautiful people
A beautiful day to you all out there, I hope you are all having great time at your respective places of engagement, it's a lovely day for me and I'm here to share with you the making of this straight shirt I made with inverted back slit for my sister using African print fabric.
Recently, my sister put a call to me that she would like to make an outfit with a 4yards African print fabric that was bought for her by her husband for a burial service they were to attend, I went to her place, made a choice of style to be made and I brought the fabric home, she would love to make a straight skirt and a blouse but first, I had to cut out the skirt before proceeding to the blouse. Here I made a straight skirt with an inverted slit at the back so as to cover the slit from being wide open.
Below is the cutting and sewing process
From the 4yards of African print fabric, I folded it in two using the hip circumference measurement divid by 4 plus seam allowance, then I measured the waist, hip and full length measurement, the measurement were marked at the right places and I cut out the front bodice
The front bodice was placed on another folded fabric with 3" excess for the inverted slit and the front was used to cut out the back part of the skirt with zipper allowance and extra inches for dart.
I placed the front and back on a black lining and I cut out same shape which was used to turn it inside out for neat finishing.
The back bodice were sewn together leaving, 8" for zipper allowance and from the hem, I measured 20" for the slit and the other part were sewn together after which the slit was turned to the right side and top stitched on
The front and back were sewn together with the side seam allowance while I sew a zipper on the zipper allowance at the back
With the final outcome, this is the front view.
This is the final and beautiful outcome of the straight skirt with inverted back slit I made for my sister, I will be making a beautiful blouse to the skirt to make a complete outfit.
Join me in my next post as I will be sharing with you other beautiful diy and creativity.
Thanks so much for your time, support, comment and encouragement. Until my next post, do enjoy your day.
