Hello everyone
Happy new week and a beautiful Monday to you all in this great community
@needleworkmonday I hope you all had a lovely and beautiful weekend. It's another productive Monday in this community where we come to show our creativity, as we come to learn, support and encourage ourselves on what we know how to do best. Today, I bring to you the making of this beautiful stylish princess dart bustier short gown with lace yoke and a pleated slit at the back made for my neighbor's wife.
Sometimes last month, I made two beautiful gown for my neighbor's daughters and the remaining fabric was meant to make another outfit for his wife, though at first, I didn't guarantee that the fabric would be enough for the wife and daughters but I tried as much as possible to see that the fabric would be enough as I decided to add a matching lace fabric to complete each outfit and they all come out nice and beautiful.
From the remaining fabric after making the two girls outfit, I made this beautiful short gown with straight cut and lace yoke with a key hole neckline at the back and a pleated slit since she was so concerned about the opening at the back.
let's get started with the cutting and sewing process
First thing I did was to draft the upper bodice on a brown paper with the bodice measurement before it was transferred to the main fabric where I cut out the same shape using the drafted pattern for the Yoke and main bodice
For the back bodice, I cut out a basic block pattern with a slanted yoke and a keyhole neckline with the zipper allowance added to it.
The main fabric were cut out with lining and it was used to turn it inside out for neat finishing while the keyhole neckline was pipe with a bias tape
The upper bodice was set aside and I cut out the lower part of the short gown using the lower bodice measurement
I cut out lining for the front and back and the lining was used to turn it inside out.
The back were sewn together and the zipper allowance was left open while I sew it down to the desired slit opening of 10"
For the pleated slit at the back, I cut out 12 x 15" from the remaining pieces making sure the pattern on the fabric align with the pleat
It was hemmed and sewn to both sides of the slit before it was pleated to 1" above the slit opening on the wrong side
Next thing was the front and back of the lower bodice were sewn together and I have this
Then the upper bodice were sewn to the lower bodice as I went ahead to cut out the sleeves
For the sleeves, I cut out a basic sleeves using the lace fabric and it was hemmed with the main fabric using the armhole circumference measurement and it was sewn to the armhole.
This is the final and beautiful outcome of the outfit I made for my neighbor's wife.
The mother and her two daughters now have beautiful outfit made with same fabric. The family were so happy to have their outfit and my neighbor Mr Ransome was so glad that I could help his family to make such beautiful outfit from the fabric I was given.
I hope you like the simplicity and beautiful outcome of the outfit.
Thanks so much for your time, support, comment and encouragement. Until my next post, do enjoy your week.
