It is the last day of April and the rain makes a big comeback. we should be close to 800mm so far this season for the third season in a row. good climate for establishing new trees.

Olive trees flowering, holding a promise for a good harvest.

Lupins are flowering all over the place, the blue, the yellow, the white-pink ones.
the grass on the farm grows high and fast. no more cutting at the moment as I let plants go into seed first.
I only clear pathways, the driveway and directly around trees and other plants.

I have taken advantage of the good weather for heavy mulching around fruit trees and some bamboo before the clouds go dry and we are thrown into our long dry season. this year all seems delayed and it is highly appreciated.
I have been revising drip lines and testing them. they are all good to go now. 5 lines in total watering over 40 trees, mainly fruit trees.
in case you missed my recent posts about our giant bamboo (pictured above), you can read them here:

we have had the electrical grid down here in Portugal for about a day (we didn´t feel it here as we are off grid using solar) and we have been witnessing the Vulnerability of modern society due to its over dependance on technology.
most shops closed down due to no electricity and pretty much everything was brought to a halt.
ever since, services are working on going back to normality.
had to pay some tax and it got fairly complicated to get the print out for payment as the tax department website was down. got it done eventually.

the notice board project is pretty much ready for installation but will have to wait for the weather to settle.

we have a local event this weekend and I will be helping a friend, feeding those who attend and I wonder how successful the event will be with all of the rain. hopefully it will not effect it too much.

Baby Pecan trees in the nursery will become large enough for planting when the rainy season starts again around October.
thank you for stopping by 🙏
wishing us all a peaceful rest of the week.
