As somebody that been on the regular social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for a while. I have noticed some of the white supremacist symbols that pop up in user names or in user logos and they’re very subtle, like Pepe the frog.
I’ve been seeing them pop up in crypto as well and it made me think especially since I follow a lot of crypto, I’m very heavily involved in it and I’m a libertarian.
I believe freedom and I believe nobody should control your money but as big corporations big tech is moving in and stifling hate speech stifling the sources and resources that these alt right and hate groups can gain funds from. Which is a good thing, have they now moved over to alternative sources. Like bitcoin and crypto ?
Have the semi anonymous nature of crypto been swamped by the alt right ? Has the movement of financial freedom been overtaken by white suprematism?
I been noticing symbols and posts by hate groups in this sphere. Always claiming freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is different then hate speech and one should not be able to hide behind it.
There is a difference and that line need to be educated again and again. Are we as freedom loving financial liberitarians in crypto.
Embracing the dark side is to a extent that is unacceptable in our pursuit of freedom and where will it lead ? Surely we as a space don’t need more restrictions and government interference cause we can’t keep our own house in order?
And how do we educate the people that need crypto the most about it ? The unbanked and underprivileged ? Are we heading into just a alternate way of doing business as usual ?
Curious to hear what people have to comment. Does crypto have a white supremacy alt right problem ?
