They're out there...
Waiting...
If you're not ready for them...
DISASTER!
Okay, now that I'm done talking like a bad "B" movie announcer, lets get serious! The truth is that disasters and large-scale emergencies of all types are increasing in frequency and severity around the globe, and we all need to know how to protect ourselves. That's what this blog is dedicated to: Helping you learn to be prepared so that you can become more resilient in your personal life, your professional life, your home, and your community.
So, who am I? Well, anyone who looks at the blockchain will be able to see that I post regularly on my personal blog as @mwoodall, and I am an Emergency Manager. To be more specific, I am an emergency preparedness and planning specialist with a focus on building and maintaining resiliency in people, organizations, communities, and structures. I am located outside of the United States, and while I am familiar with the great work the wonderful people of FEMA do, I'm taking more of a global perspective instead of an amero-centric (is that even a word?) perspective.
At the end of the day, I want you to be better prepared for the next time disaster strikes you, whether you are at home, at work, or even on vacation. I'll be commenting on some of the major disaster- and emergency management-related stories from all over the world. I want to bring you the stories that will help you become more resilient, and better able to cope with whatever is thrown at you!
So, in the words of one of my favourite doctors: "Allons'y!"
